Seljalandsfoss Waterfall: Standing at 60 meters, Seljalandsfoss is a stunning waterfall, uniquely allowing visitors to walk behind it. The path offers a rare perspective, though it may close on very cold days due to ice, providing a chance to admire the beautiful icy scenery instead.
- Skogafoss - Skógafoss Waterfall: Skógafoss is one of Iceland’s most renowned waterfalls, also 60 meters high and approximately 25 meters wide. Both Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss are fed by glacier rivers, with meltwater from Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull. Eyjafjallajökull gained fame for its significant 2010 volcanic eruption that affected European air travel.
- Solheimajokull Glacier - Sólheimajökull Glacier: Sólheimajökull is an outlet glacier extending from the Mýrdalsjökull ice cap. Beneath Mýrdalsjökull lies the renowned Katla volcano. Glaciers are retreating at an unprecedented rate, and it is anticipated that Iceland’s glaciers may vanish in a few decades.
- Dyrhólaey - Dyrhólaey offers breathtaking views of the south coast’s landscape and black beaches. This 120-meter high promontory has been shaped by the sea’s erosion. In summer, Dyrhólaey is abundant with birdlife, particularly puffins.
- Reynisfjara Beach - Reynisdrangar and Reynisfjara Black Beach: Iceland, a volcanic island, is primarily composed of black basaltic material, giving rise to the “Black Beaches.” In 1991, this beach was ranked among the world’s ten most beautiful non-tropical beaches. The beach features striking basalt columns, and Reynisdrangar is a sea stack formed by wave erosion.
- Volcano Eyjafjallajokull - Weather permitting, enjoy a view of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano, famous for its 2010 eruption.
- Vik - Vík: The charming village of Vík, located south of the Mýrdalsjökull glacier, provides a perfect conclusion to this incredible south coast tour.
Return to Reykjavík is expected around 6 PM.
