It details the capture of this bridge by British commandos who arrived by gliders. The operation was swift, and the bridge was renamed “Pegasus Bridge” in 1945, honoring this remarkable and heroic episode of D-Day.

Benouville - Visit the “Glider Marker 1 & Marker 2” memorial stones. These stones commemorate the landing sites of the gliders.

Benouville - Stop at Café Gondrée. This café is historically significant as the first house in France liberated by Allied forces on June 6, 1944.

Day 2: American Landing Sectors & Memorial Sites

Utah Beach - Utah Beach was one of the two landing beaches used by American troops on D-Day. The units that landed there joined American paratroopers, who had jumped inland during the night, to secure the Cotentin peninsula roads and later the Cherbourg harbor.
