- Deildartunguhver Thermal Spring - The journey begins at the extraordinary Deildartunguhver hot springs, recognized as Europe’s most powerful geothermal spring. With an impressive flow of 180 liters (47.6 gallons) per second, this intensely hot spring is crucial for heating homes in the area. As the geothermal site is explored, visitors will pass by steaming vents and bubbling pools, with water temperatures soaring to 97°C (207°F) - a striking showcase of Iceland’s untamed natural energy.
- Hraunfossar - The next destination is two of western Iceland’s most breathtaking waterfalls, with time allocated for lunch. First is Hraunfossar, a distinctive series of gentle cascades that appear to emerge directly from the lava field, creating a captivating network of crystal-clear streams. Nearby is Barnafoss, offering a stark contrast with its powerful, twisting waters rushing through a narrow canyon. The vibrant pastel-blue water foams as it crashes through the rock—some liken it to a swirling blue milkshake!
Both waterfalls originate from an ancient lava field formed thousands of years ago. The guide will share intriguing myths associated with the area and provide fascinating insights into the geological forces shaping Iceland’s magnificent waterfalls.
- Langjokull Glacier - Choosing the Ice Tunnel activity allows for a ride in a monster truck up Langjökull Glacier. The remarkable Langjökull Ice Tunnel is the largest of its kind globally. Visitors will spend an hour exploring its icy corridors, with a stop at the built-in chapel.
- Viðgelmir - Opting for the Lava Cave activity offers a visit to Iceland’s largest lava cave. It is easily accessible due to special paths and walkways, making it suitable for the entire family. Visitors will be amazed by the stunning stalactites and stalagmites adorning the ceiling.
- Husafell Canyon Baths - Selecting the Húsafell Canyon Baths activity provides an opportunity to relax in a warm geothermal pool nestled in a canyon, perfect for recharging before the next stop.
- Sturlureykir Horses/Visiting Horse Farm - The tour includes a stop at the delightful horse farm in Reykholt, where visitors will meet the charming Icelandic horses—renowned for their small size, thick coats, and friendly demeanor. There will be a chance to pet and feed these gentle creatures, and the knowledgeable staff will share intriguing facts about this unique breed. Be sure to capture some unforgettable photos!
Afterwards, the group will return to the minibus for a final scenic drive through the Icelandic countryside, arriving back in Reykjavík by early evening, where drop-off will be at the original pick-up location.
