• The lava field it resides in is 800 years old.
• Within the lagoon, there is an in-water cave, a warm waterfall, and an in-water bar where drinks can be purchased.
• The lagoon contains no less than 9 million liters (2,377,548 gallons) of water.
• Every 40 hours, the lagoon’s entire water supply is refreshed.
• The lagoon’s striking blue color is due to silica. The water is a mix of freshwater and seawater, rich in silica and minerals.
• In summer, the water takes on an additional green hue from algae.
• The healing waters have benefited many people with psoriasis or other skin conditions.
