Álftavatn – Emstrur

Emstrur - Trek across expansive black sand plains and volcanic terrains, crossing several glacial rivers as you proceed south through the Icelandic highlands toward the mountain hut at Emstrur, with views of the Mýrdalsjökull glacier along the route.

Emstur – Thorsmörk

Thorsmork (Thor’s Woods) - Continue south through striking highland landscapes, crossing volcanic sands and scenic river valleys before descending into the lush green oasis of Þórsmörk, encircled by glaciers and rugged mountain ridges.

Thorsmörk – Reykjavík City

Reykjavik - Spend the morning exploring the stunning Þórsmörk Valley, surrounded by glaciers, mountains, and birch forests, with the option to enjoy a brief hike in the area. In the afternoon, return to Reykjavík via public highland bus from Þórsmörk to the BSI Bus Terminal, with arrival anticipated between 17:00 and 18:00.

Stay in traditional mountain huts along the trail. This option excludes a guide and meals, offering you the freedom to hike at your own pace and manage your own meals.
