A fabulous experience - I loved this experience. How often are you going to get the chance to walk inside a lava tunnel? Opportunities like this should be grasped with delight. It was sometimes a little difficult to hear everything the guide was saying, but she did make herself clearer when it was pointed out the people at the back of the group couldn't always hear what she was saying. She shared some very interesting facts about the tunnel which I will not repeat. Go find out for yourself. You'll be so glad you did.

Lava Tube - Wonderfull cave! First Time in a Lava Tube. The only thing I wish that there had been more information about the pickup in the discription in Viator. Pickup was a a Bus Station then a transfer local airport were we needed to take another bus. I have never had to navigate this on past Viator tours but after initial confusion of the transfers, everything was wonderful. The second bus driver was very informative.

a novel experience. - This was a short trek into a Lava tunnel made approx 5000 yrs ago. It was very educational, and the guide named Laura was very informative. The tunnel is several metres high so no worry for those with claustrophobia. Safety apparatus is provided. It's a safe activity to do for many ages. You'll get loads of good pics.

Lava Tunnel was great but transportation left some to be desired. - The lava tunnel itself was amazing to see! 10/10 for that part of this booking. The sights and the tunnel guide were great. Lots of people complaining about uneven steps and walking on rocks, but that was expected for where you are walking! The transportation situation was a little confusing so I'm glad I read other reviews prior to have a better idea. Basically a Fly Bus will pick you up from one of the local bus stops and take you to the bus station where you will be dropped off and filtered onto another bus to take you to the tunnel. Both are on a large tour bus, not a small van and definitely not private. While at the small bus stop, you must ask the bus driver if this is the correct bus. For us, they had a list of names to check off but they don't call out and don't wait. Once you get dropped to the main terminal, sometimes they had someone in the back directing people to the right bus, but sometimes people just had to read the small signs in the bus window to see which but they needed to transfer to. It definitely felt chaotic and unorganized. I feel like the transportation portion was way overpriced so if you can get to the lava tunnel on your own I would recommend booking directly with the tunnel and providing your own transportation. Also, I would have loved to spend more time in the cave but had to rush out once the tunnel tour guide mentioned the pickup time. Had I not overheard her mention that, we wouldn't have known what time we needed to be out in order to be picked up. So overall, we really enjoyed the cave but the transportation and communication around it could have been better.

This tour is not for... - This tour is not for adventurers. It is an inclusive tour for those that want to be in a cave with grated floors for part of the walk instead of uneven floor ground and lights all around for visibility.

Be Certain You Are Physically Up to This Activity - This is particularly challenging for older adults with balance issues, bad knees or hips and back issues. It was beautiful but I could not enjoy it as much as I would have liked due to almost constant concern about falling. I survived it but I would never do it again.
