Learn about the first Icelandics. - A small but very informative museum, well worth a visit. The audio tour is 30 minutes long and the models are very lifelike!

Where Sagas Breathe: A Viking Age "Dark-Ride" style experience in Reykjavík - Overall impression: A unique and visually dazzling “wax-museum” that brings the characters of the Icelandic Sagas to life in grizzly detail and vibrant color. Vibe & Atmosphere: The overall atmosphere of this museum is immersive. The vibe reminded me of Disneyland “Dark Ride” attractions, where theatrics combined with compelling content create a dazzling display that captivates the viewer! The lighting, audio guide, costuming, and settings in which the characters are displayed work together seamlessly to create a completely captivating experience. Service & Staff: The docents were particularly helpful, even giving me a significant discount at the gift shop because I am a reenactor! That was a personal touch I would never have asked for, but that made my experience unforgettable. What We Did while there: We walked through the museum, sitting in each display listening to the stories on the audio guide. And we took pictures at each station as well. I absolutely loved the vibrant displays with the detailed and animated descriptions in the audio guide! We particularly enjoyed the section of the museum where you could pick up the tools next to “Skalla-Grímr”. We also took pictures in the “photo-booth” they set up with weapons, garments, shields, and helmets. And we enjoyed shopping at the gift shop. And of course, we took a picture of me riding the horse statue outside the museum entrance. My favorite Moment: My absolute FAVORITE vacation-making moment was when visitors to the museum thought I was part of the exhibit! Having tourists ask to take a picture of me in my kit at a Viking-age theme museum is on my bucket list, so this was a groundbreaking moment for me indeed.

Great experience - Very nice little museum. The scenes and characters depicted are very well done. The stories are very exciting and really interesting for anyone interested in Iceland's history with Vikingetn. Very angenem that is available both with headphones from the museum and via your own smartphone. Dressing up as a Viking at the end of the visit is really great fun!

Fun Museum - This was a fun little museum, though I found it difficult to follow both the audio tour and the signage with each exhibit, as they didn't align perfectly. It begins with the early settlers and you walk through history, illustrated by very lifelike (almost too lifelike!) wax figures depicting famous events throughout Icelandic history. We went back and walked through it again without the audio so we could read the signs without distraction. It did not take long to get through the whole thing, and it left me wanting to know more about Icelandic history and the Sagas! There is a video at the end showing how they made the exhibition which is also quite fascinating.

Cute. - Cute museum, with the possibility of audio guide. For the guide in Italian, via qr code, you have the translation on your mobile phone. Inside the scenes described are represented by very well made waxes. Residence time 30min

Interesting history of Iceland - Nice museum to learn history of Iceland in a easy to grasp manner. Overall presentation felt a little dated , and the headset provided for the walk thru presentation kept glitching and by mid walk thru I gave it up and just read the posted signs in front of each display. However for what you get it felt overpriced for a less than 1 hour walk thru

A good solid museum - A good solid, if a little dated museum. Lots of details around the wax figures. A nice area to dress up in, and a great gift shop

Over noisy and underwhelming. - The dioramas are cleverly constructed but even by Iceland standards, this represents a poor price to time experience. You will probably struggle to stretch it out to a full hour. Maybe visit the national museum instead?
