Hallgrimskirkja - Begin your exciting 2-day adventure tour with a morning pick-up from downtown Reykjavik. From the capital, travel along the picturesque west coast to West Iceland.
Arnarstapi Center and Snjófell Restaurant - The first stop is the charming fishing village of Arnarstapi, where you can stroll around and discover the local surroundings.
Vatnshellir Cave - From Arnarstapi, venture underground with an optional visit (additional fees apply) to Vatnshellir Cave, located within Snæfellsnes National Park. This 8,000-year-old lava tube tunnel offers an experience reminiscent of Jules Verne’s “A Journey to the Center of the Earth.” If you choose not to explore the cave, the guide will lead a walk around the area.
Dritvik and Djupalonssandur - Next, head to Hellnar for a lunch break (at your own expense) before continuing to the stunning Djupalonssandur beach. Enjoy a short hike on the pebble stone beach and explore the remnants of a shipwreck. You might also find the lifting stones, where you can test your strength like the fishermen of old. If the weather permits, there may be an opportunity to chase the Northern Lights in the evening.
Kirkjufell Mountain - From Djupalonssandur, continue your journey around the Snaefellsnes peninsula, stopping at the iconic Mt. Kirkjufell, a favorite among photographers, before settling in for the night.
Exploring The West of Iceland
Deildartunguhver Thermal Spring - Start the day at Deildartunguhver, Europe’s most powerful hot spring, which provides heating for all nearby towns.
Sturlureykir Horses/Visiting Horse Farm - Visit the family-run Sturlureykir Horse Farm near Reykholt, known for its gentle Icelandic horses and warm hospitality. Enjoy a guided tour of the stables, learn about traditional horse breeding, and see geothermal energy in action on the farm.
Hraunfossar - After absorbing Reykholt’s history, explore the breathtaking Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls. Witness the water flowing from beneath the lava fields and hear the tale of Barnafoss waterfall. Depart from the beautiful Borgarfjordur area afterward.
Gerduberg Basalt Columns - On the return journey to Reykjavik, stop by the Gerduberg Basalt Columns.
Hallgrimskirkja - The tour concludes in Reykjavik, with an expected return around 6:00 pm.
Reykholt - Reykholt’s history predates Snorri Sturluson, having been an early settlement and church site since the 10th century. Its geothermal springs were essential long before and after his era.
