- Sólheimajökull - Within a little less than two hours drive from Reykjavík is Eyjafjallajökull glacier, and just a little further the Sólheimajökull glacier tongue extends down from Mýrdalsjökull, Iceland´s fourth largest glacier. A glacier hike is a great way to experience Icelandic nature. We take an easy glacier walk on crampons up on to the ice field where a wonderland of ice sculptures, ridges and deep crevasses awaits discovery. During the hike you learn more about these disappearing giants. We will provide and teach you how to use basic glacier equipment for this tour. On the way back we make two stops, at the striking waterfalls Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss.
Once we make our way back to Reykjavík we will stop at the majestic Skógafoss waterfall and the picturesque Seljalandsfoss waterfall. If weather permits it is possible to walk behind Seljalandsfoss.

This fully guided, day-long trek, limited to a small group, takes you across the Sólheimajökull glacier tongue, a protrusion from the Mýrdalsjökull. From that point, you’ll engage in a comfortable 3-3.5 hour hike on crampons across the ice field, gaining knowledge about the icy landscapes filled with sculptures, ridges, and deep crevasses, and comprehend why these magnificent glaciers are dwindling and vanishing.
- Remember to bring warm clothing, rain gear and hiking boots
- Children 9 years and younger are not permitted on this tour.

The best experience in Iceland - It was my best experience in Iceland so far!
Our driver Dylan was very informative, friendly and the drive was super comfortable, chill and nice. The first waterfall - Skógafoss was absolutely beautiful and I’ve made it to the top as well! But the highlight of our trip was definitely the glacier hike! It was my first ever trip on a glacier and the view from the glacier was breathtaking.
Our guide - Fernanda was absolutely amazing. She was funny, knowledgeable and so friendly! She made the whole experience even more memorable and enjoyable. She even made us do a fun activity, which I won’t say about as it definitely should be a surprise! Moreover, I felt super safe on glacier thanks to her and she made stoops when she saw one of us wants to take a picture or just admire the view!
It was worth the money for sure and I think I will never forget how it felt to be standing on a glacier and see the mountains and the lagoon from up there.
The tour time was perfect, as it was plenty of time to explore the glacier and learn new things. I could stay there forever though!

Full day worth the drive from Reykjavik! - We had an excellent time on this tour stopping by gorgeous waterfalls near the South Coast and a moderate hike on Glacier Solheimajokull. Dylan was a fantastic host answering questions about Iceland and an impromptu stop added in.

Amazing trip with the nature and awesome guide who made a big difference - We had an incredible day with our guide Höskuldur on this trip. He made all the difference. We wish we had him as our guide on all trips we made during our stay. He was very friendly, interested in people, dedicated, knowledgable, a good communicator. I found it a bit hard to understand him in the beginning but after a while I got used to it. The trip itself was amazing with the beautiful nature, waterfalls, glacier, and black beach. Unfortuntately the glacier hiking got cancelled due to the weather, but our guide handled that in a good way and we got a refund of the payment for that part.

EXCELLENT!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND - Excellent guides! We had Tomas/ Thomas on 6/16/2025. He was great as our main leader. Keira also worked to teach us as well as some others who helped out. EXCELLENT experience!

South womders excursion with Eric of Reykjavík excursions - We are returning now from this excursion, we have done others with Reykjavík excursions, but this was made even more interesting by our driver/guide Eric, who illustrated each place with news and information, supported us, we, the only Italians in an excursion in English.
Obviously knowing English is important, given the scarce offer of excursions in carved language, Eric knows Italian being a Spaniard who has lived in Iceland for years, and exchange a few words in Italian is always nice.
I absolutely recommend the excursion and if you can, enjoy it with Eric as a guide!

Lots of fun - Highly recommended. Reasonable fitness level required. Leave 10AM and get back around 5PM. Beautiful to do in winter.

Best Icelandic Tour - By far the best tour I’ve experienced in Iceland so far!!! Johaness and Anna are very accommodating and always make sure that no one is left behind. Johaness knows his stuff and is a very good guide, and his history of Iceland is very detailed and easy to follow. Will definitely book more tours with them while here on vacation
