- Glacier Lagoon - Vatnajokull glacier is massive, covering 14,000 sq km and it is Breidamerkurjokull, one of the many sections of this great glacier, that creates the magical Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon. From there is an easy walk down to the Diamond Beach where you can see icebergs that have washed up on the black sand beach, glittering in the sun like jewels.
- Diamond Beach Jokulsarlon - During the scheduled stop for Jökulsárlón, we recommend that you check out the Diamond Beach that is only a few minutes’ walk away, to see stunning icebergs scattered on the black sand beach.
- Vatnajokull National Park - You will have unforgettable views of Skaftafell wilderness area in Vatnajokull National Park.
- Skeiðarársandur - Drive through the starkly beautiful black sand expanse of Skeidararsandur.
- Vik - Here it is possible to buy lunch, shop for souvenirs, or take a short walk in the village or down to the beach.

The South Coast and Glacier Lagoon Exploration presents a day of experiencing the thrilling variety of Iceland’s landscape. It provides breathtaking views of Vatnajokull glacier, Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls as well as the glittering ice fragments on Diamond Beach at Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon.
En route to the glacier lagoon, you traverse through the South Coast region of Iceland, an area punctuated by spectacular waterfalls, stark black sands, gigantic glaciers and volcanoes mingling with pastoral scenes. You will enjoy unmissable views of the Skaftafell wilderness within the Vatnajokull National Park and journey through the dramatic black sand stretch of Skeidararsandur. On nearing the lagoon, you’ll also sight Iceland’s largest active volcano, Oraefajokull.
- Please note: Boat tours on the glacier lagoon are not included in the tour price.
- Warm and waterproof clothing is recommended
- Drop-off after tour may not be directly in front of your hotel, depending on route and traffic limitations.

Don't be put off by the... - Don't be put off by the 15hr timescale of this trip, just ensure you have a charger for camera's/phones as there will be so much you will want to take photo's of on this journey and ensure you have clothing for all eventualities we found it was warm and sunny for some parts then windy and cold the next (especially the beach at Vik) On this tour you will get to see some of South Iceland's most beautiful landscapes as you are travelling from each stop along the tour, we had an amazingly knowledgeable guide called Karen, we were given so much information, history, facts & stories. You still stop of at some truly breath taking locations, make sure you have waterproof clothing should you get the opportunity to go behind one of the waterfalls (weather permitting) as you WILL get soaked, but I would recommend it, its is stunning and an experience!

Emilia and Andres were an... - Emilia and Andres were an excellent team. Emilia was informative and Andres drove the bus safely. The sights are absolutely incredible and worth the long day/drive. The only issue is dinner in Vik- there are only 2 restaurants and a supermarket. Other tours also stop there so the restaurants aren’t the best option. Maybe If a boxed dinner(sandwich) were added or longer at the lagoon because there are food trucks there. Otherwise the tour was wonderful.

It is a long day but well... - It is a long day but well worth it. Our guide Emilia was a wealth of knowledge. She ran a tight schedule but had to! The bus was comfortable and we were thrilled with the many stops we made.

High light for me was Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach.. Glacier was fab especially on a sunny day

Long Tour, But 100% Worth It! - This day trip makes for a long day, but it was completely worth it! Such a beautiful part of the island and a must see! Our guide was phenomenal and kept it fun throughout the tour.

Amazing time at south coast and very professional staff - We were lucky to have Emilia as our guide for the day on 23rd march 2025. She was very friendly, organised, hard working and informative. She kept us informed all the way and explained a lot about the history and landscape. Andres was also a good driver and kept the journey very smooth and safe all day, given the journey time was very long starting from 8am and back at Reykjavik at almost 11pm. It was hard work and must give him a random applause for the day. The tour itself was great and we managed to take a lot of pictures at the glacier lagoon and diamond beach plus the waterfalls on a sunny day. Would definitely recommend the tour to everyone

Spectacular scenery with taxi scam fare - It was such a spectacular day trip. Our driver cum tour guide really made the trip a memorable experience. The weather was bad and later had a flat tyre. Miracle does happened, when we approached jokulsarlon glacier, suddenly snowing shower stopped. It is truly a tough job and long journey of 14.5 hrs.
Only i thing, i disliked, i chosen a pick up point at BSI and waited since 7am but i was later being told at Bus hostel near BSI. I was scam in 2min taxi fare of 4250 isk.

Scam - Do not book with this company. They made a last minute change to my pickup location, which I accommodated. I was there 30 minutes early. However they didn’t tell the bus driver. When I saw him drive by, I called the company and they said there was nothing they could do. Then they are trying to fight me on the refund. This company is a scam and frankly I’m surprised they are still in business.

Pathetic experience - Your started late 30 minutes from scheduled time. Apart from that driver was caught by police which wasted another 45 minutes. Also, we went to see waterfall when it was dark. Overall poor experience
