Fire and Ice Helicopter Tour - I cannot recommend this activity highly enough. I'm a bit of a geography/geology geek so was looking forward to seeing what is" one big volcano", Iceland! The highlight being the two hour helicopter trip on the Fire and Ice Helicopter Tour. Two landings, one on top of the ice cap on a mountain and then a further landing at a geothermal site in the mountains. Spectacular scenery and an excellent commentary from the pilot, but made even better by superb weather. A fantastic way to see Iceland and well worth the money. I have over 2500hrs as helicopter flight crew in Royal Navy Seaking helicopters and have flown over many spectacular landscapes, but this flight comes out top. Many thanks to the crew at Fire and Ice Helicopter tours and especially the pilot (for his smooth flying and commentary)

Oh yeah, take this tour. You deserve it! - What a wonderful experience. A lifetime tour. Our pilot Tomas was fun and professional. Our flight was exciting and safe. So much fun and without a doubt the highlight of our visit to Iceland. I honestly tear up when I relive the flight in my mind. Do this tour for yourself and your loved ones.

Great views - Disappointed friendly people but pilot/guide had very little knowledge of the area and could not answer most questions. So, pretty views and lovely landing to view waterfall. And another landing on a mountain range /inactive volcano ? No glacier landing because no good spot close enough to “add any value to you” “unless you want me to land far away I can if you all want”. So stunning views and a very nice, obviously sick with a cold, fellow who just wanted to be done for the day.

In Bad Taste - I got on the helicopter and within the first 15 minutes I figured out this is not the flight I was supposed to be on as it just flew around a nearby lava eruption a few times around and then returned to the airport. The entire flight took less than 30 minutes. The ground staff told me that my original Fire & Ice flight had been cancelled as other than me no one else had signed up for it. They offered me a 60% refund as compensation which I refused. 2 things bothered me in this interaction- 1. There was no attempt at making an apology for wasting my time 2. They tried to negotiate with me which meant I should pay for something I didn’t originally buy. I told them II’m done with this conversation and will get my 100% refund from Viator when I’ll share my experience with them. Before I could even reach out to Viator, I got a 100% refund email from them. However, it mentioned the flight was cancelled because of “bad weather “. Wow!
