- Hólmsheiði - Our most popular tour! We ride in small groups, ensuring a personal and friendly experience. The tour covers 5-7 km, tailored to the riders’ experience levels. It accommodates both beginners and seasoned riders, with route options available. Riders can enjoy a scenic path along the Redhills or, for more experienced groups, a route by Rauðarvatn. Both paths offer natural trails and a stunning backdrop for horseback riding, allowing participants to connect with the friendly Icelandic horse. Solo Trip February 2026 - This experience was truly special! We had a small group of about 10-12 people and it was a perfect size. The guides were very encouraging and fun to talk too. I truly appreciated their photography skills and patience. I would recommend this tour over the other larger ones offered in Iceland. Definitely dress warm if you are going in the winter, bring gloves and a hat without a pom pom to fit under the helmet, and ensure your pockets zip for your phone as you cannot bring bags.

Lava field Horse Riding - Great from start to end. Had optional pickup. Was contacted on the morning to confirm the time and location. Had a short drive to the stables, once arrived, everything was explained, had the option of using overalls if required. But the day was dry and crisp so we did not need these. Helmets were then fitted and then we got to go out to the horses. All horses are will looked after. The guides match you to a particular horse and give full instructions if you have never ridden before. Photos are not allowed during, but there is a stop halfway, where one of the guides will take plenty photos of you and your group. The option is then given for those a little nervous to take an easier route or you can carry on where you get the option to trot few times. The scenery on route is stunning. Once back, there is Tea, coffee or hot chocolate waiting to warm up. Again, we had the transfer back and were dropped off at the hotel...The guides are brilliant throughout, helping anyone who requires a little reassurance. If doing this during winter months, hats (with no bobble) and gloves are a must! Some people turned up without either! You can buy from them if you do accidentally forget.

Fabulous Experience - A beautiful experience. If you've ever riden a different horse the Icelandic horses are so smooth to ride - it's worth the experience. We loved it.
They gave us suits to put on over our clothes to help us keep warm and helmets. There was the chance to try the tolt gait or the option to just keep walking.

Iceland Horses are so Cute - This was amazing. It was the first time I rode a horse and it was so fun and easy. I would definitely sign up and go even if it means you would go by yourself.

Wet but fun - Claudia was very friendly and helpful. In spite of a thunder storm, she remained cheerful and informative, and we enjoyed the trip. Horses were well behaved and the walk was enjoyable. We got a bad day for it weather-wise so couldnt give above 4 stars. Certainly recommend wearing layers and water-proof boots!
