- Roaguía - Hierve el Agua is a secluded oasis located 40 miles into the foothills outside Oaxaca City. Accessible only by a dirt road that meanders through some of Oaxaca’s most remote villages, visitors are rewarded with a view of Hierve el Agua’s shimmering “waterfalls.” These are not flowing water but rather calcium deposits that have formed over thousands of years, now dramatically rising above the valley below.
Upon arrival, visitors will encounter one of Oaxaca’s most significant natural wonders: the petrified waterfalls of Hierve el Agua. A hike around the area allows for the appreciation of the splendor of this magnificent site. Following the hike, a refreshing dip in the natural pools offers a unique experience!
Lunch will be enjoyed at Citlali’s in Roaguia, featuring homemade traditional dishes such as memelitas, tlayudas, and quesadillas.
- El Rey de Matatlan - “Mezcal Experience” (an informative tour of a traditional palenque with tastings)
A tour of our palenque provides insight into the mezcal-making process.
Participants will taste different varieties of agaves, categories of mezcal, and flavors of mezcal creams.
- Tule Tree - Visit Santa Maria del Tule to see a 2,000-year-old Moctezuma cypress, known as the world’s widest tree.
