Hands down THE BEST, maybe in all of Europe. - Hands down THE BEST, maybe in all of Europe.
We have just finished our second trip to I Dolomiti--Val Gardena and now Cortina d'Ampezzo. My soulmate skis and I ride. We've taken this passion that brought us together in Colorado, US to Chile, Chamonix, Cervinia, Canada, and of course, home. Believe me when I tell you this is more than a rental business.
We had the privilege to get to know and now love the people of Borderline Cortina. Where other shops specialize in skiing or snowboarding or the business is transactional, le belle persone di Borderline know both approaches to the sport and within minutes we felt warmth and care for their business, their staff, their customers, and their passion.
We rented for three days--skis and a board. Where mio tesoro usually gets good equipment, my snowboard rentals all over the world are often barely a board to ride, suspect equipment, or down right jenky. Her skis were great. My board was the best ride I've received and gave me the confidence I have on my own sticks back home.
Add a guided tour of the Sella Ronda with our amico nuovo, Francesco--an incredible skier, a wonderful teacher, and just an all around great person. Francesco brings the right perspective to his passion. He taught my girlfriend, who is already an expert skier, a couple things and he simply wants to add something for whoever he skis with. We had a relaxing Sella Ronda day, "Francesco style" where he added a few black routes to keep it feisty.
Paolo at the check-in. Georgio making sure we were fitted right and taken care of all trip. They are the reason this place will always be a fond memory for us and when we make it back, our first stop.
Paolo and Giorgio created a true sense of concierge. They are both knowledgeable, taking great pride in their service. Paolo gave us tips each day on where to ski/ride, where to eat, and even the weather. They are both warm, fun, and great humans.
The young men caring for every turn of the screw driver and din setting on each binding. The business is great. The people are among the best we've found in many trips like this. These are the people that make Cortina a special place.
Grazie mille per tutti, belle persone di Borderline. A presto.

Once In A Lifetime Experience - Paolo, his brother, and team could not have been more helpful. Communication from Australia pre arrival was prompt and clear. Our family hired ski/snowboards and snow gear for the middle of December. With challenging snow conditions Paola suggested the Sella Ronda with our guide Alice. Not only was our guide truly amazing but the day was a once in a lifetime experience that we will never forget. The service was both professional, efficient and informative.

Amazing Skiing and Spectacular Views - Went in mid-February. Weather was great. The views are spectacular. Cortina is simply magical, can see why so many movies were filmed in this location.

Crowded ski tour - We enjoyed the sights and slopes on this ski tour, but it is a popular tour and was very crowded. We went on a Tuesday and there were busloads of skiing tourists parked at Corvara where the tour starts. Our guide was excellent, however, and did a great job getting us through the crowds.

Skied the Sellaronda counter clockwise - We took the public bus over to Corvara from Cortina, about an hour and 10 euros pp each way. We skied the counter clockwise direction as the clockwise was closed. It turned out to be a holiday weekday which was a big negative as the crowds were awful and lift lines long. As an American skiing in Europe you have to get used to what they call “line fighting” at each lift, although to call the queues a, ”line” is a stretch because they are more like funnels. Because of the lines it took us from 9:30 to 4:00 to complete with a half hour in between for lunch. The positives were that the views were beautiful although we were always rushing to get down to the next lift. Total skiing was only 16.8 miles but your up and down as much as 3,000 ft. of altitude.
