Visitors can marvel at its beauty and explore the numerous medieval graffiti that reflect the passage of pilgrims over the centuries.
- Parco Della Caffarella - Now a vital part of the Appia Antica Regional Park, Caffarella Park is one of the largest green spaces in Rome and Europe. It is a historical treasure trove, with paths and groves revealing remnants of ancient structures.
- Ninfeo di Egeria - Be captivated by this sacred site that narrates the love story between the Nymph Egeria and Rome’s second King, Numa Pompilius. Upon learning of her beloved’s death, Egeria’s tears of grief gave rise to a spring.
- Parco degli Acquedotti - Parco Archeologico dell’Appia Antica - Stroll through this vast green area, historically traversed by the Via Latina, Rome’s oldest road. A hub of Ancient Rome’s water network, it showcases the magnificence of Roman engineering with well-preserved aqueduct remains, some still functioning.
- Villa dei Quintili e Santa Maria Nova - Parco Archeologico dell’Appia Antica - At the fifth mile of the Appian Way, admire the remains of the grand Villa dei Quintili, once owned by the brothers Sesto Quintilio Condiano and Massimo Valerio, consuls in the second century AD. They were executed by Commodus I, who seized the villa for imperial use.
- Mausoleo di Cecilia Metella e Castrum Caetani - Parco Archeologico dell’Appia Antica - This impressive mausoleum, a pagan tomb for Cecilia Metella from the 1st century BC, is part of the Castrum Caetani and is the best-preserved mausoleum on the Via Appia Antica. Visitors can also see the remnants of the medieval Caetani family’s house and the church of San Nicola, with only its perimeter walls remaining.
- Circus of Maxentius - Situated on the Via Appia Antica, the Circus of Maxentius is the finest example of a Roman circus still in existence. Visitors can journey back in time amidst the ruins of ancient Rome. The spina, still visible, once held the Agonale obelisk, which was relocated during the Renaissance to the Fountain of the Four Rivers in Piazza Navona.
- Terme di Caracalla - Constructed by the emperor Caracalla, these baths were the largest public baths for nearly a century, and much of their structure is still intact today. A branch of the Aqua Marcia supplied water to the baths via the Antoninian aqueduct, with small remnants visible at Porta di San Sebastiano.

Escape Into History - A perfect break from the crush of crowds through bucolic fields and shaded lanes flanked by impressive aqueduct remains and ancient mansions and chapels. The road surfaces range from single dirt track to smooth pavement to cobblestones, small and large, so be prepared for a bumpier ride, but the e-bikes (pedal assist only) are good quality and fairly stable (though one in our group did take a tumble). Tip: bring a gel saddle cover if it’s been a minute since you’ve ridden because your bum feels it after four hours. Regardless, the scenery was truly stunning, and our gracious and attentive guide Chris, who grew up nearby, was excellent, sharing his knowledge of history and food along the way. We’d highly recommend the experience.

From Rome, USA to Rome, Italy - My wife and I visited the city in celebration of our silver anniversary and our experience was extraordinary! The bike tour was the most excellent and memorable means of exploring the city. Our guide was very knowledgeable and informative, we interacted with him well and was an excellent match of personality and fun. The total experience was a great adventure and a 5-star tour.

Enjoy the ride. - Very responsive to booking questions. Fun and easy ride - a bit more on city streets than we expected. Good tour of city gate and walls, Via Appia and Aqueducts, plus some riding through parklands. Guide was friendly and knowledgeable.

Wonderful Combination of History and Nature - Alex was an excellent tour guide. He was attentive to making sure our bikes were set up and working properly. The E-bikes were high quality and provided the necessary boost for any hills on the route. Alex also ensured we had a bathroom break and could refill our water bottle as needed.
The tour included stunning views of Roman parks with aqueducts as well as stops at many ancient sites that would have been difficult to access walking from the city center. Overall it was a delightful combination of history and nature.
The route included a couple more difficult terrain areas which were manageable for my wife and I as casual bikers but could be more difficult for inexperienced bikers or senior citizens. If needed it would have been easy to walk the bikes across the couple difficult stretches and still have a wonderful experience.
