• Catacombs of Saint Callixtus - Among Rome’s largest and most significant catacombs, the Catacombs of St. Callixtus date back to the mid-second century. This extensive burial complex spans 90 acres, featuring a network of galleries approximately 12 miles long, spread over four levels and more than twenty meters deep. It is the final resting place for numerous martyrs, 16 popes, and many Christians. Visitors can also admire the Crypt of St. Cecilia, dedicated to the beloved patron saint of music, who was martyred and laid to rest where her statue now stands.
