Amazing tour - We had an incredible experience on our tour of the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, and Roman Forum. The sites themselves are breathtaking, but what made the tour truly special was our guide, Georgi. He was extremely knowledgeable, weaving together fascinating history with engaging stories that really brought Ancient Rome to life. His explanations were clear, insightful, and full of interesting details you wouldn’t get just by visiting on your own.

Well worth it to save time; get expert guidance; and get access - This is the 2nd time that I have done this tour, but last time was solo. Last time was very good, but this one seemed much better. I'm not sure why, but it felt like there was a lot more to see on and in the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. Maria did a super job shepherding us around--finding shade, giving us time for h20 and a bathroom break, and locating good picture spots. I still think they could do a better job making the meeting point clearer, partly because there are so many groups in the same area. At some point, it would be nice if this tour would provide some way to see some of the photos/images shown during the tour after the tour.

Highly recommended to bring the sights to life. - I booked the 9am tour and we finished around 11.45. It was absolutely brilliant. Our guide spoke super English, with a great sense of humour and was incredibly knowledgeable (I've already forgotten his name, sorry! It was 9am 1st August). He encouraged questions and interaction with the group and really brought the sights to life. If you went in to the colosseum or Forum without a tour guide, I don't think you would have a fraction of the experience. We got straight in without queuing and the whole experience was very well run and thought out. Thoroughly recommended. It is HOT though!

- The Roman Forum was the center of day-to-day life in Rome, the site of triumphal processions and elections, a venue for public speeches, criminal trials, gladiatorial matches and the nucleus of commercial and legal affairs. Located between the Colosseum and the Piazza Venezia, on the low ground between the Palatine and Capitoline hills, it was the hub of political, legal, religious and social activity of the Roman citizens. This is where Mark Antony delivered his funeral oration for Julius Caesar. This is were Caesar's body was cremated. Statues and monuments commemorated the city's leaders and the city's most imposing temples were built here. Streets were lined with shops and open-air markets. Construction of the Forum of Caesar began in 46 BC, two years before Caesar was assassinated. The Forum and many of Caesar's other projects were completed by his adopted son, Augustus Caesar. Open daily from 9 to 4:30, visitors can see classical sculptures, Roman mosaics, ceramics and Etruscan artifacts. Among surviving structures in whole or in part are the Temple of Castor and Pollux, Temple of Deified Caesar, the Curia or Senate House, Temple of Antoninus and Faustina (built in the 2nd century, it is the best preserved temple in the Forum), Temple of Saturn, Temple of Vesta, Temple of Romulus, Arch of Titus, Arch of Septimius Severus and the Cloaca Maxima, one of the first sewer systems in the world. Get to the Forum via the Via Sacra, the oldest and most famous road in Rome, linking Piazza del Campidoglio with the Colosseum. As with many structures in Rome, the Basilica of Maxentius and Constantine is mostly destroyed but its massive size suggests that it was one of the most important buildings in the Forum.

One of the best tours I've ever experienced! - My family and I had the absolute privilege of having Sam (Haitham Farouk) as our guide on our first-ever visit to Rome. From the moment the tour began, Sam's passion for history shone through. He brought the ancient sites to life with stories, context, and a genuine enthusiasm that was infectious. We came full of questions—and Sam answered every one with incredible knowledge, insight, and patience, all while keeping the perfect pace for our group. He made us feel completely engaged and never rushed. It truly felt like we were exploring Rome with a historian and a friend. If you’re booking a tour through City Wonders, do everything you can to get Sam as your guide. You won’t regret it—he made our Rome experience unforgettable.

Worst Tour Experience Ever - This was one of the worst travel experiences and tours I have ever been on. I am younger and never usually write reviews and am pretty forgiving/laid back, but we had got completely scammed. I have been to 10 other countries and have done multiple tours with this company before, and I have never had an issue like this. So we checked in 15 mintues ahead of time and got our radio and headset for the tour. The tour guide manager had officially checked us in. Then we were just looking at the colosseum and waiting by the manager when our tour guide (Maria Louisa) completely left us. There was complete miscommunication between the guide and the manager. The manager had saw the guide leave without us and realized their mistake 5 minutes too late when the tour had already left us. We were waiting for the tour to tell us it was time to go, that’s why we were waiting by the manager. The actual guide had counted 5 people missing—3 from our family and 2 from a completely other family. So yes this tour guide left another family completely who also checked in as well. The issue came next when we tried to catch up and get into the colosseum. We were not allowed in, and we eventually had to talk with the manager to guide us in personally. Eventually we joined the tour just as it was ending. The other two girls we were with, who had also got left behind, did not even find the guide. When we found the guide and expressed our frustration that she had left us, she complained and yelled at my grandpa for being slow. He has trouble walking and she did not wait or accommodate for him. She was rude to me who was explaining the situation and blamed it on us, stating we had checked in late. But we have it on the record and our tickets were scanned 15 minutes before the tour began. She never apologized and basically implied we were stupid. I don’t want to call her the B word to keep this professional, but that is how she was acting. She should not be a tour guide, as she cannot apologize or accommodate when she makes mistakes. She is careless with keeping track of her group and leaves without people. She also does not care if you are with elderly and walk slower. It was me and my sister taking my grandpa, and he has trouble walking. Do not let Maria Louisa be your tour guide, as she does not care about you and just wants your money.
