Definitely Worth A Visit! BEWARE OF PICKPOCKETS & SCAMMERS!!! - We visited the Pantheon with an 11am guided tour with Crown Tours. This is one of the best-preserved Roman temples in all of Italy, today it is a basilica that houses the remains of 2 Italian Kings and 1 Italian Queen. It also houses the remains of the famous renaissance painter Raphael. The Oculus of the concrete dome is the main attraction of this ancient building. Once inside, you can sit down on the prayer benches to marvel at the ceiling and the beautiful interiors, while resting your feet from all the walking that you had to do. Without a guided tour, visitors have to queue up to purchase a 5Euros admission ticket to get in. It is definitely worth visiting for first-time visitors to Rome! IMPORTANT NOTE: Please beware of pickpockets & scammers who are prowling around the square in front of the Pantheon, especially around the fountain opposite the main entrance of the Pantheon! Tourists are easy targets for those scumbags!

A Family Visit to the Pantheon, Rome – A Timeless Experience - Visiting the Pantheon in Rome with my family was one of the most memorable experiences of our trip to Italy. Walking through the cobbled streets of the Eternal City, we knew we were approaching something special—but nothing prepared us for the moment we stepped into the Piazza della Rotonda and saw the Pantheon in all its grandeur. First Impressions The Pantheon is absolutely breathtaking from the outside. Its massive Corinthian columns and imposing facade are instantly awe-inspiring. Even my kids, who can usually only be impressed by gelato and gladiators, stopped in their tracks. The sense of history was palpable—you can feel the centuries in the worn stone and the quiet reverence of the place. Stepping Inside As we walked through the enormous bronze doors into the rotunda, a collective “wow” escaped from all of us. The interior is a perfect circle, with marble floors, statues of saints, and beautiful niches lining the walls. But the true highlight? The oculus—a circular opening in the center of the dome that lets sunlight pour in. It was around midday, and the sunbeam shining through the oculus felt almost spiritual. The light moved across the walls like a sundial, and it was mesmerizing to watch. Even our youngest was intrigued by the idea that this hole in the ceiling has been open to the sky for nearly 2,000 years—and that it’s the only source of natural light in the building. A Living Monument What struck me most was how alive the Pantheon still feels. It's not just a relic—it's a working church, known as the Basilica of St. Mary and the Martyrs. There were people praying, lighting candles, and taking in the moment in silence. We explained to our kids that we were standing in a building that had been a Roman temple before becoming a Christian church, and that it has been continuously used since around 126 AD. That timeline was mind-blowing. Family-Friendly Experience The visit was surprisingly family-friendly. There’s no entrance fee (which is great for a family group), and the site isn’t overwhelmingly large, so you can take your time without feeling rushed or exhausted. There are benches where you can sit and take it all in, and just outside are plenty of cafes and gelaterias where we grabbed a treat afterwards. We also appreciated the subtle educational opportunity—history, architecture, and art all in one spot, without it feeling like a museum. Final Thoughts The Pantheon is more than just a must-see site—it's a powerful experience that bridges the ancient and modern world. Whether you’re a history buff or just want to feel a deeper connection to human civilization, it delivers in a quiet, awe-inspiring way. Our family left feeling humbled, inspired, and surprisingly peaceful. If you're in Rome with your loved ones, don’t miss it—it’s not just a monument, it's a moment you’ll remember together.

A highlight of our visit to Rome - This is a must see monument in Rome. We lucked out by going on a day, which had a bit of rain, and then the sun came out, so we could see the interior with the open oculus in all its glory. The architectural details and scale are mind boggling, and it is perfectly preserved despite being over 2000 years old. Our tour guide was superb and enthusiastic, and her passion for the building and content was obvious.

the service is terrible - I loved Rome and Italians until I met the staff at the Pantheon in Rome. They shout at tourists in an uncivilized manner. Choose people to work with better. Best regards, Anna
