Amazing informative tour! - Great tour very informative - not a whole lot of walking. Vans from each location included city information - Davide was friendly, funny and engaging. Highly recommend.

Something a little different - Being a two part tour, each was well guided in different formats. The first via recorded audio that allowed each individual to choose their preferred topics and the second was with a private guide within the catacombs. The transportation between both tours was very clean and professional

Great sites, good tour - Stop 1 The Museum & Crypt of the Capuchin friars was really fascinating and we enjoyed it more than we thought we would. It's just a short walk from the meeting point. The museum comes first and you get a (v good) audio guide to use, enabling you to pick and choose what you focus on. Plenty of time was given to enjoy the museum. Then you have time to wander through the crypt, again not guided just on your own. Lots of bones, skeletons etc and everyone will have their ow views about what they see. In between Very comfortable and efficient drive past the old city walls and down the Apian way with audio commentary about this and that from our guide. Stop 2 St Sebastian catacombs (not St Callixtus for us as this was a Wed and it's closed). Excellent guided tour of the very atmospheric catacombs. Well paced, informative and interesting. Can't say whether St Callixstus are 'better', but we enjoyed St Sebastian...both the catacombs and also looking around the church after. Church contains Bernini's last work and relics related to St Sebastian's predictably violent death. Stop 3 Basically, you get dropped near Circus Maximus and just told the other stuff mentioned in the itinerary (Santa Maria in Cosmedin, Hadrian's crypt & Mouth of Truth) are 'over there'. So even saying these bits of the tour are 'self-guided' seems a bit of a stretch. The 2 sites we visited were great and the transport from one to the other was comfortable and without a car of our own it would have been difficult. The pacing was good and although our guide didn't actually lead the visits at either site (you're on your own at Capuchin and the tour is led by the Catacombs' own staff there), she gave good tips for enjoying the visits and kept things on track....plenty of time for a bathroom break, to grab a coffee etc. So we enjoyed the tour, thought it was a good choice for us and would recommend it.

Interesting with a touch of weird. - The organisation was good throughout, with our guide explaining the arrangements clearly. It was a short walk to the Capuchin crypts. The tour was self-guided but there was plenty of information in the introductory section. That is when it got weird, with artistic displays of bones with the odd dead monk keeping an eye on you… or rather not. Minibuses were waiting to take us to the next part of the tour. The Roman Catacombs were a little drive away. We were given an introductory talk before being taken underground to see and learn about the catacombs and their history. At the end of the tour we were drinking back and dropped off in the centre of Rome.

It was good. But the tour... - It was good. But the tour guide had a very strong accent and was hard to understand sometimes. It was even worse in the catacombs. We couldn't hear the guide and even though we selected English speaking, we could not understand her.
