My mom and I were traveling, and after amazing food and wine tours in Tuscany, we were hoping to have a similar experience in Rome. I was a little worried based on the reviews, but Denis could not have exceeded our expectations more. Not only did we get a comprehensive history lesson kicking off in Piazza Fiore, but we explored historic shops/restaurants and ate our way through the city. We were lucky enough to only have 2 other people on the tour, so the group of 5 made it even more intimate. Great local wine, unique meats/cheeses, traditional pastas our favorite location by far, dessert...exceptional. This is the evening food tour to do. Come VERY hungry!

This was truly a highlight of our time... -
This was truly a highlight of our time in Rome. We had 2 guides, Francesco who is a hilarious, charming, and knowledgeable Roman native, and Stefano, a professional chef. Both added such value to the tour and brought us to only the best places for pork, cheese, pasta, street food, and gelato! I highly recommend this tour - you won't be disappointed.

Had to decide which of the two pastas... -
Had to decide which of the two pastas which lose it all as it cools first, Cacio de Pepe and carbonara need to be served quickly, frying pan to warm plate, The paper plat was drying the sauce quicker than my mouth dried with no water while eating the pizza and rice balls. The good thing was the sweat from our farheads kept it moist and briny.
Then the amatriciana Not the same when the pasta on the outside is flanked and comingled with the eggs, cheese and pepper.

Oh. Did I tell you this authentic pasta was served with rigatoni, not bucatini. Lots of respect for stefano, but I was shocked he gave no explanation. I really feel he is stuck having to deal with the cards he is dealt.
We then trekked again to get biscotti, again standing, eating on the street dodging Vespas and hawkers selling selfie sticks. Was going to buy one and take a picture of me, but while standing, I woud of had to drop my biscotti to hold selfie stick. Oh, no water, no coffee, cappuccino, no cantucci and lastly as my buddy paulice c woud do, have an espresso wit a bit of grappa or zambucca.
Again while standing,

Last trek gelato, we did go to what I'm sure is the best place. Sadly standing again.

Did all three pastas have to be done at once
Couldn't we have gone to a couple place and tried a bit at each, with a small table
Aren't ther other roman treasures., a bit of salad with some stratcelli, ?? Thin beef with
This should be changed to a walking street food tour and make it sound like you will have great food enjoy the time.
If it was warmer, this would have been a nightmare.

Again stefano worked hard and I felt he knew his stuff, but I think the bottom line is one must make a profit for the owner and shareholder. Who, by the way we're Italian would say. Never put cheese on fish and in Rome, you serve bucatini.

By the way, on our way out, the 6 bieberino fans got ther carbonara, Looked great. Yes bucatini!!!!!!!!

We did this tour the first evening we... -
We did this tour the first evening we were together in town, a splendid way to begin our exploration of Rome. Francesco did a great job of orienting us to a number of small restaurants. First, leading us around a number of streets and piazzas in the vicinity of the Campo de' Fiori, he purchased some cheeses for our first dining stop. That was in the Antica Norcineria Viola, an astounding salami and pork shop where we had prosecco, the cheeses, and a great selection of different cuts of meats.
Then still near the Campo, the Ristorante der Pallaro offered a quick course of pasta cacio e pepe and also carbonara my wife and I returned to Pallaro two nights later with two friends despite some, mixed reviews I have read. Then, we strolled over to the piazza St Eustachio to have some pizza slices at the unpretentious and excellent Pizza Zaza. Then back toward the Campo, to a pastry shop, Nonna Vincenza, and finally to a gelateria for you guessed it, at Carapina. Obviously, with these references, anyone could to this trip on your own, but would need to have the while meal at Pallaro. My only real reservation was that Francesco, having just returned from vacation in southeast Asia, seemed a bit too disengaged, dialing in the tour a bit. There were only two couples on this tour, and one member of the other couple ate no meat, so I felt that his style seemed a bit cramped. Also we passed a family he had guided that morning, and clearly, it seemed he wished he was still with them! In any case, his tour around this are proved to give us a solid orientation to one of the most important parts of Rome and helped me be oriented for explorations for the next week. Probably worth 4 start here, if Francesco can give it his all -- but definitely worth doing. Price wise, a bit overpriced, frankly, but unforgettable.

Skip this tour! A more accurate name... -
Skip this tour! A more accurate name would be mediocre street food eaten while standing . Several of the shops visited wouldn't allow us in so we waited for the guide on the sidewalk and thus saw nothing of the cheese or bread shops, for example. The butcher shop was the best, but even then we ate a variety of tasty meats in the back room standing up with wine that didn't come from the bottle it was served from per our guide. The presentation by the owner of the shop didn't happen with our visit. The main course was 3types of pasta eaten at a joint with all the charm of Burger King. The pasta was served on paper plates with disposable forks and wine in plastic cups I kid you not, but hey at least we got to sit down. The final stop was for gelato which was fine. Overall this was a tour that should have been valued at 30 including the guide , not 90. I will not be taking another tour offered by Together in Rome tour operator: not up to Viator standards.

Stefano is very knowledgable and a... -
Stefano is very knowledgable and a passionate chef. He made the experience good but I feel the agenda and choices are poor.

Starts at 5 45. Most people in Rome spend the day walking which we knew there would me more of, if you do walk all day, walking is ok, but when you stop and stand its a nightmare.

Stop one, pizza, great piece and listening to stefano talk and field questions was great. Eat standing on street, no water or wine.

Cheese store, stand outside for 10 minutes while stefano picks up Mozzerella and bread.
Salumeria, norcineria, Awesome place. Go in back room, Grant atmosphere, stand on concrete floor for 30 minutes. Again stefano explains what and why we are eating, history, well done. But just standing is a nightmare. Food great. Feet horrible. A few stools and more than one bottle of wine for the time is poor.
Walk, stop for rice balls, Real Italian street food, Explanation, history, taste, great, no wine, no water, standing on cobblestone street into 90 minutes, tough on feet and legs. Walk to a fast food pasta place. A place that closes at 8 and serves pasta on paper, not plastic plates, plastic forks that come a takeout package with napkin, much like takeout in US. Atmosphere of mcdonalds. Finally sit at a table. Takes 10 minutes to get wine. Water came quickly. 4 -50cl liter bottles for 6 people to split. Again one more bottle of wine for 6 to split.
While we did get explanations on food, I felt stefano was embarrassed to be there.
Italian mcdonalds with pasta
He had to wait in other room for food to be served, left us alone for 15 minutes
Owner was getting ready to close
Window was closed and I was sweating like a piece of pancetta in a frying pan waiting for someone to separate the egg yolks for the carbonara
Then comes 6 young high school students talking about there day and the next justin biebererino.
Food comes all at once. 3 traditional pastas with the personality of chef boyardee spaghettios.
All served at once.
All touching
