A Genuine Māori Village Experience - Strolling through the village, one can observe traditional wood carvings and experience the warmth of the community. While the village offers a unique experience, some visitors have noted areas where maintenance could be improved. Overall, it's a memorable stop for those interested in Māori heritage and geothermal activity.

Fantastic cultural performance-we smiled through the whole show - We loved this cultural performance! It was so full of joy and natural too. We particularly loved when some of the performers children got involved - very cute!

Cultural music - Very enjoyable experience with the Māori women & men singing and dressed in traditional Māori clothing.

Momories that will forever last......Whakarewarewa! - I brought 26 students (4 staff) down from Auckland to experience Whakarewarewa and experience this really special place filled with history and memories. It was truly a fantastic experience for our students (Year 8s) and so much learning was had by all. We did the guided tour, had the hangi lunch and then finished with the performance. It was all faultless, including the booking/reservation side of it that happened behind the scenes - so accommodating, helpful and organised. Not to forget the marvellous tour guides. I would most definitely recommend visiting Whakarewarewa, it's well worth it.

Epic insight into Māori culture - This is a fantastic snapshot of Māori culture in a performance that was highly entertaining and insightful. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an engaging experience!

Culturally enlightening with the best, most helpful staff - I came around 15 years ago and was stoked to see all the work the crew has put into restoration since then, as well as the (re?)introduction of mandatory cultural guides for the village areas - having navigated these areas previously unguided, this is a positive addition that adds the cultural insight and personal touch that I feel was sorely missed when floundering about on my own. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, in particular with regards to flexibility when one member of our family was experiencing some anxiety. I was so impressed and grateful for their care.

Authentic family experience - This was our second visit to the village. The children requested a return visit and it was well worth it. We loved the cultural performance then we participated in a tour of the village and Geysers. We had a brilliant young female tour guide. Highlights always the cooked corn on the cob and the erupting Geysers. More authentic than the over marketed Te Puia next door.

Truly authentic experience - We had a wonderful visit to the Living Māori Village in Rotorua. Our guide, Philip, was informative and engaging, which made the experience even more memorable. Walking around the village, where people still live, gave us a genuine and authentic glimpse into daily Māori life—far beyond a typical tourist attraction. It felt like a true cultural immersion, and we highly recommend it to anyone wanting to understand Māori traditions and community life firsthand.
