Very nice authentic place - We did the walk and the visited the spa. It was a great experience. The mud, the cold plunge, the pools. Everything was clean and nice. The walk was amazing and beautiful. We learned a lot. Personnel was very friendly. Nice little shop.

Fabulous trip, Lilly the guide was excellent offering real insight into history of the area. Would definitely recommend. - Would definitely recommend for any one wanting to know more about the volcanic activity in the area. Great tour, incredible scenery, followed by mud bath and spa

Great Experience! Would recommend. - Even though it was raining it was an awesome experience. The rain actually produced more steam and who cares if it was raining anyway you are taking a bath you are wet anyway. Only thing I would have done differently though was held off on the walk around their park when it wasn’t raining but again all in all a great experience. Staff was very friendly, the cost was very reasonable. We were there for about 2+ hours but that included our walk the Māori carving, the mud bath, sulfur bath and shower. We went early so there wasn’t much of a crowd plus the rain may have kept some people away.

Wonderful day at Hell’s Gate - Highly recommend the tour, unfortunately I can’t remember the young tour guide’s name but she was absolutely fantastic, very knowledgeable and really engaging! The only downside was the weather as we decided to leave the tour early due to a torrential downpour and headed straight to the mud baths and sulphur pools which were delightful!

Great half day intro to the area - A great experience to introduce you to the geothermal area. The waharoa (gateway) into the geothermal walk was incredible - beautifully carved with the Māori story of how the volcanic area came to be, definitely worth stopping to read about it. The walk was not too long and included regular stops to learn more about the different pools and how they got their names. The Māori carving was a highlight - the two cousins working the shed were full of vibrancy and positive vibes always available to assist, even sharing with our group a little bit of their language! The spa was relaxing if not a little busy when we visited but I would definitely recommend hiring their swimwear if we were to visit again as the sulfur smell really really sticks - even with the helpful washing instruction cards we were given!

Highly recommend and accommodating for solo travellers - Great chance to walk around the geothermal area and learn about each individual area, then have a go at Mauri carving before heading to spa! Caked in mud for 20 minutes before being cued to leave and bathe in the other spa areas including cool plunge and sulpher warm baths. Made all the more pleasurable by the staff friendliness especially (Vera Lyne) You made my day

TripAdvisor charge in USD - TripAdvisor charges you in USD so it ended up more expensive than you get ticket in the reception. It is good tour for English speaker only. It was too hard to explain to my parents who did not speak any English and without being toured, the price doesn’t worth it.

Beautiful waterfall was a delight to see & photograph - The geothermal hot springs were more striking in person (and better, in our opinion, than Waiotapu), and we enjoyed walking through the lush forest area with the scenic view of Kakahi Falls. The wood carving experience was also fun to try. We thought the experience included a tour, but we weren’t offered headsets or any information about a tour on arrival.
