Amazing! - Great walk! Guides were very knowledgeable, experience felt nice and laid back. A couple of hours hiking with some incline, a small climbing portion, and an hour or so ride to the start. Good introduction to scree! Walk into the crater is perfect scree to learn on. They provide walking poles if needed, easy hike for an advanced beginner.

Unique, mind blowing... beyond special !!! - Kā nui te mihi kia korua - Taiwera & Perez! I feel super privileged to have got to step foot around Te Maunga ō Tarawera with you two kaiarahi... on your beautiful Ngāti Rangitihi land... Your manāki shone bright... the whole experience really blew my mind... the landscape is so different to where I'm from down south. I thought I'd be scared going down the steep slopes but it was actually very empowering & I felt confident. Tino pai tō mahi. I will be telling all the manuhiri, hoa & whanau about this... an absolute MUST do in Aotearoa New Zealand. Chur!

The volcano from all angles - Excellent walk of about 3 hours on the side then the summit descends into the crater and finally ascends
You have to count one hour in a van. Descent point rdv to burpa from the track
The two very friendly attendants are also very focused on safety
What gives bcp confidence

This is NOT an EASY HIKE - it is an EPIC adventure - but not for those afraid of heights! - You will meet in a parking lot and then head to the volcano. The road going up is through the bush and bumpy. Porta potty stop before you head your hike starting point. We had some older members of our group hear about our course and decided to sit it out. You are given a hiking stick - take it with you. Wear hiking boots (TALL ONES) and bring water. You are essentially bringing the ring to the top of mordor LOTR style- no other way to describe this epic journey. The guides were great but they are not hauling you through this. It is up, across, down (which is like volanco skiing) and then up some serious stepped stairs - pictures and views are amazing. Be prepared, know your limits and go on this serious hike for some serious adventure!

Great experience- even for a senior afraid of heights!😃 - Great experience. I am afraid of heights but was so intrigued by this opportunity, I signed up anyway. Not being in the same hiking shape I was in years ago, I contemplated turning back at the point of no return. I am so glad I didn’t! The guides were excellent and the experience well planned to be manageable for almost anyone. With several stops along the way, and the guides’ providing great info, there was plenty of time for me to enjoy the views without looking down while actually walking. They showed us how to navigate the scree descent so it was not as scary as I anticipated. So if you’ve never done anything like this before, and think it might be terrifying, I highly recommend doing it anyway. You will be glad you did. The surroundings are stunning and you won’t get the total appreciation any other way.
