- Fontaine de Vaucluse - After a 45-minute drive from Avignon, the tour guide will first stop in the delightful town of Fontaine de Vaucluse, situated along the banks of the river Sorgue at the end of a lush, narrow valley. Visitors will have some free time to explore its remarkable spring, where water emerges from a mysterious chasm. While strolling along the shaded pedestrian paths of the village, be captivated by the emerald green hue of the water and the tranquil ambiance of this unique location. An ancient watermill, still producing traditional paper, can be visited in the town, along with a charming Romanesque church dating back to the 11th century. After exploring Fontaine, the guide will meet the group at the designated meeting point to proceed to the next destination.
- Vieille Ville de Gordes - En route to the old town of Gordes, a photo stop at Gordes’ renowned overlook is scheduled. Here, visitors can admire one of the most breathtaking panoramas of the Luberon valley, where vineyards and olive groves extend as far as the eye can see, surrounded by gentle green mountains. Shortly after, the driver will drop off the group by the town’s castle, from where the cobbled streets of this famous hilltop town can be easily explored, offering stunning views of the Luberon landscapes. There are ample shopping opportunities, as well as quaint cafés and ice cream shops. The tour guide will meet the group again at the meeting point to continue to another charming village.
- Roussillon - Around 1 pm, the tour guide will drop the group in the village of Roussillon, where there will be more time to spend than in the other towns. This allows everyone to enjoy lunch in one of the cafés or snack bars and to explore the vibrant streets of Roussillon, where each house is painted a different shade of ochre. For those opting for a quick lunch on the go, there will also be enough time to walk the beautiful Ochre Trail (entrance fee not included - 3.50€/adult), a developed pathway through the ombre-colored cliffs of a former ochre mine.
- Menerbes - After lunch, the guide will continue the journey through the Luberon valley to discover another hilltop town, Ménerbes, recognized as one of the most beautiful villages in France. Enjoy a leisurely walk along the peaceful streets of this fortified village, which inspired British author Peter Mayle to write the successful novel “One Year in Provence.” Afterwards, the guide will drive the group back to Avignon, arriving between 5 and 5:30 pm.
