Transfer from Kigali to Akagera National Park

Akagera National Park - After enjoying breakfast, a safari guide will pick up the group and drive them to Akagera National Park, located in the eastern region of Rwanda. The journey takes about 2½ hours. Upon arrival, participants will embark on a nature walk followed by lunch at Akagera Game Lodge. In the afternoon, a canoe ride on Lake Ihema will offer views of aquatic wildlife such as hippos, crocodiles, and water birds like the papyrus gonolek, shoebill stork, and African fish eagle. The day concludes with a return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Morning Game Drive – Transfer to Bwindi National Park

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - Following breakfast, the group will set out on an early morning game drive to observe wildlife including elephants, impala, black-tailed mongoose, hippos, oribi, bushbuck, antelope, zebra, cape eland, giraffe, buffalo, and primates like the olive baboon, vervet monkey, and bush baby. Afterward, they will proceed to the border for clearance to transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in Uganda for gorilla trekking. Dinner and overnight accommodations will be provided.

Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Lake Victoria - After an early breakfast, participants will walk to the park headquarters for a briefing on the guidelines for gorilla tracking. They will then proceed to the gorilla trail. Gorilla tracking can last from 2 to 8 hours or even a full day to locate the gorillas. Once found, visitors can spend at least an hour with these magnificent creatures. It is recommended to bring a packed lunch, which will be provided, as the duration to find the gorillas is unpredictable. Later, the group will transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, traveling through a picturesque region often called ‘the Switzerland of Africa’ due to its unique cool climate despite its proximity to the Equator. This lake is considered one of the most beautiful spots in western Uganda. It is the second deepest lake in Africa [900 meters deep] and one of the few places in the country where swimming is safe as it is free from bilharzia. Lake Bunyonyi Tour and Transfer Back to Kigali

Kigali - After breakfast, participants will enjoy a boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi, touring various islands before heading to the Katuna border to cross back into Rwanda. Upon arrival, a Kigali City tour will commence, starting with a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre. The tour will include various city landmarks and craft markets, followed by a transfer to Kigali Airport for the departure flight home.

Lake Victoria - After an early breakfast, the group will embark on a boat ride at Lake Bunyonyi. Known as one of the most beautiful locations in western Uganda, it is the second deepest lake in Africa [900 meters deep] and safe for swimming as it is bilharzia-free. The two-hour ride showcases the terraced hills surrounding the lake. Bunyonyi, meaning “place of little birds,” is home to abundant birdlife. Afterward, the group will transfer to Kigali.

Kigali Genocide Memorial - The journey continues to the Katuna border to cross into Rwanda. Upon arrival, a Kigali City tour will begin with a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre, exploring various city landmarks and craft markets, followed by a transfer to Kigali Airport for the departure flight home.
