Downtown Sacramento is currently undergoing a modern-day revival! Visitors on the tour will be walked through Sacramento’s original high street, gaining insight into its rich history and architecture, dating back to the mid-19th century.
Experience why Sacramento is known as the Farm-to-Fork Capital of America, sampling famous dishes from varied menus filled with ingredients sourced locally.
The group size for each tour organized by Local Roots Food Tours is restricted to a maximum of 14 people. Accommodations for specific dietary requirements can be arranged with prior notification.

Please meet your tour guide **INSIDE** the Hyatt Regency Hotel at 1209 L Street in Sacramento. Your tour guide will be waiting INSIDE the hotel lobby right outside the entrance to Hyatt Regency's 1819 bar (directly across from public restrooms) It is towards the right after entering the hotel's front entrance. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the tour start time.
Public parking is available at the Hyatt Regency on 12th Street and L Street (entrance on 12th Street). It is the more expensive parking option but also the most convenient due to its proximity to the tour's starting location. If you don't mind walking a couple of blocks, we recommend parking at the public garage on the corner of J Street and 10th Street on Saturdays. Fee is $5.00 all day.

Phenomenal tour for great food, Sacramento history, and a wonderful experience! - My wife and I absolutely enjoyed every bit of the tour downtown - Dawnie was an amazing guide and had a wealth of very interesting knowledge about Sacramento including its history, its art scene, and also a ton of local events and things to do. I know it's a food tour, but I had to mention Dawnie first since she made the whole experience so enjoyable!
As for the food, everything was sooo good, and we had very sizable portions, so expect to be very full upon completion of the tour. I don't want to spoil the surprise for anyone, so I won't mention specific items or locations, but we encountered a coffee shop, a diner/cafe, a Mexican restaurant, an American restaurant (with Michelin plate designation), and a bar/dessert cafe. The food was varied in flavor and selection, and my wife and I both appreciated getting to try diverse items we wouldn't normally order as we found some things that we are definitely going back for.
We couldn't have asked for a better experience and will be booking the additional tours for midtown, sutter district, and R street in the future. Thanks Dawnie!

We had a fantastic time... - We had a fantastic time on this 3-hour Food Tour! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and shared a lot about the local culture. She also had great conversations with us as a couple, making the experience feel very personal and enjoyable. The food was perfectly arranged, with each dish offering something new and delicious. Highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to explore the city. Don’t miss it!

When you think you know it all, you don't! Go in the store and learn. Enjoy both food and knowledge of the city - The depth of knowledge that our tour guide displayed was amazing. Certainly they were things that I did not know, nor did my son who is in the hospitality industry and lives here in Sacramento. We would certainly recommend this tour for any of our fellow foodies. Aside from her food and beverage knowledge, we are able to learn a lot about Sacramento and it's downtown history.

So fun to see such a beautiful and interesting town! - The tour was very informative and we saw some amazing murals! The food selections weren’t that great but the guide was so friendly and engaging that it was easy to overlook!

Not dependable - Didn't get to go as they canceled a couple days prior. No reason given and it was the only day we could have attended. Very upsetting when I reserved everything in advance for our short trip.
