- Sainte-Mere-Eglise - Sainte-Mère-Église is a historic treasure for those interested in World War II. This village, the first to be liberated by the courageous paratroopers of the 82nd Airborne Division, features the famous church where paratrooper John Steele was caught on the steeple during the D-Day landings. Inside, two special stained glass windows honor the American paratroopers who fell on June 6, 1944. The village square displays several monuments dedicated to the 82nd Airborne Division, and there are visible bullet holes as silent witnesses to the battles fought.
- Beuzeville - This monument commemorates the tragic crash of the C47 Skytrain, which carried Lt. Thomas Meehan and his fellow paratroopers of the 101st Airborne Division (506th PIR-Easy Company), as depicted in the series Band of Brothers. Discover more about the Airborne Operations leading up to the D-Day Landings.
- Foucarville - Explore the remnants of one of Normandy’s largest German Prisoner of War camps, which housed over 40,000 German soldiers before they were transferred to Great Britain, Canada, or the United States.
- Ravenoville - After landing in the marshy area between Utah Beach and the higher grounds towards Sainte-Mère-Église, around 40 paratroopers stumbled upon a German mobile battery near a large farm. Learn how this battery was neutralized by American paratroopers, based on original photographs.
- Utah Beach - Travel along Utah Beach, the smaller of the two American landing beaches, towards Sainte-Marie-du-Mont. Discover how two German observers were removed from the church tower of this first liberated village by the 101st Airborne Division.
- Angoville-Au-Plain - The Church of Angoville-au-Plain played a significant role during the Normandy Airborne Operations on June 6, 1944, and beyond. American medics Robert Wright and Kenneth Moore transformed the church into a field hospital, treating over 80 wounded American paratroopers and a local child. Despite intense fighting, they provided medical care using available resources, including pews and a wheelbarrow. Their selfless actions exemplify the courage and compassion of the D-Day Operations. Visiting the church today offers a glimpse into these incredible wartime stories.
- Carentan-les-Marais - From Angoville-au-Plain, passing Dead Man’s Corner, travel over Purple Heart Lane to Ingouff Farm, where the first bayonet charge of WWII ended in favor of the U.S. Paratroopers, but at a great cost. This is another testament to courage, bravery, leadership, and determination. Lest we forget!
- Neuville-au-Plain - Visit the site where 44 American paratroopers of the 82nd Airborne Division established a roadblock on June 6, 1944, to prevent a German counterattack from Cherbourg. They successfully held up a column of 180 German soldiers, including armored vehicles, until relieved by American tanks from Utah Beach.
- Fresville - See the monument where Pfc. William “Bill” Tucker lost six comrades while clearing a hamlet along the railway from Caen to Cherbourg.
- Gourbesville - Visit the crossroads where nine days of fierce battle resulted in 300 American casualties.
- Amfreville - Follow the path of the 82nd Airborne Division to Dropzone T, where many paratroopers drowned in the deliberately flooded area. Visit the monument for Lt. Colonel Timmes and his men, who were surrounded on three sides by the enemy, with the flooded area on the fourth.
- Cauquigny - Visit the chapel of Cauquigny, across the Merderet River and La Fière Bridge, which changed hands multiple times during the battle from June 6 to June 9, 1944.
- La Fiere Bridge and Iron Mike Monument - Our final stop of the day. Visit the crucial La Fière Bridge, where the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division captured the bridge on June 6, 1944, and held it against several enemy counterattacks, including those with tanks.
