Visiting Salzburg - Original Sound of Music Tour was very interesting though starting in the very hot afternoon. I like the narrator, Jose who was an excellent story teller, great organizer (engaging 69 participants of the tour), knowing when to add pleasant jokes.

Pleasant and Scenic Tour - Had a wonderful drive in a double decker bus…if you are quick and get the top front seats…it’s just pure joy! The guide was very professional and the organisation of the trip was perfect! Just that in the half day tour you can either do the scenic walk up or the boating…in Hallstatt I feel one should have a day full to enjoy it to its fullest!

Professional team, enjoyable tour - Hallstatt is a beautiful place and deserves more than the 2.5 hours that your will get with this trip. I'd recommend a full day or overnight trip to enjoy everything there. However, I was happy as I wanted to cram in as much as possible in the short time I had in Salzburg. The bus broke down on the way there due to a coolant leak, which no one could have forseen. The speed with which a replacement bus was made available so that the entire days program was unaffected was indeed commendable, and I'd recommend this company just for their professional approach if nothing else. The whole program was well worth the money, and extremely enjoyable. There are plenty of breaks and hence you won't feel too tired though it is badly 10 hours from the start, by the time you finish the Sound of Music tour.

Fun day! - Halstatt was amazing and the views were so pretty! The Sound of Music tour was cool but you spend a lot of time on the bus and don't really see some things up close. But if you love the movie, it's worth the time.

Good tours if done separately but I don't recommend doing them in this package - I was very excited about this tour but did not realize how the package was structured. We went to Hallstadt in the morning and came back to Salzberg to change buses and head out for the Sound of Music part of the tour. I do not recommend this unless you are really pressed for time and only have one day to do it all. Hallstadt is a lovely and picturesque town. It is nice to ride through countryside to get there. Once there, we decided to forgo the tram to the mountain top because the wait to get on was perhaps 45 minutes or more. Instead we opted to spend our time exploring the paths and strolling through town. So be prepared by having a map and knowing where you want to go to make use of your time. Besides the paths to other parts of town and up the hillside, you can cover the actual "main street" in maybe 30-40 minutes and there are some nice little family owned businesses. We particularly liked the honey shop. TIP: make sure to have lunch and buy snacks since you won't have another chance to eat. After Hallstadt, you drive back all the way back to Salzburg and board a new bus for Sound of Music Tour. By that time we were very tired and hungry. It was a very hot day and the second bus was not air conditioned properly so everyone in the back half of the bus were really uncomfortable. The Sound of Music bus ends up backtracking in the same direction yu just came from and to some of the same places you saw on the way to Hallstadt so that was redundant. Way too much time in buses for one day. Also, I should have done more research and known that the Nonnberg Abbey and the cemetery are not on this tour. The Abby is in Salzburg and I believe you can visit at least the outside of it separately but the tour description was a bit unclear on this. The tour guide for the Sound of Music Tour was really terrific. Big shout out to Inge.

Very uncomfortable bus ride. - Don't sit in the back quarter of the bus. The engine of the bus is in the rear. The back seats sit on top of the engine. It was June and we all were sweltering in the back. The air conditioning worked but it couldn't over come the heat coming from the floor and vents. the people up front were cool as a cucumber. We complained to the driver and tour guide. All they could do was explain that that was where the engine is located. Duh! The Hallstatt tour guide was difficult to understand because of his accent. The SOM guide was terrific. He was American and very very funny. He was very informative and entertaining. He told lots of behind the scenes stories the he said he referenced from a book. Hallstatt is pretty boring. I just don't get the attraction. It is just a small village perched on a mountain side beside a lake. Except for the Bone House which is small 12 by 12 house full of human skulls there is not much else. A lot of pretty scenery but then the whole ride from Salzburg has that. Taking the bus does make the visit stress free - no parking issues. SOM tour was totally different. Everything that was possible to see with respect to SOM was on the tour. We saw a lot. This is a must. Just don't sit in the back of the bus.
