• Panjakent - Crossing the border takes approximately 40 minutes. On the Tajikistan side, travelers will be greeted by a Tajik guide and driver holding signs with their names, who will then drive them to Penjikent.

Penjikent is the primary archaeological site in northern Tajikistan. This affluent, cosmopolitan area flourished along the Zarafshan River until it was destroyed by Arab invaders in 722. Excavations at the site have uncovered silk cocoons.

Sarazm is situated 20 km west of Penjikent city and is one of Central Asia’s oldest settlements, where archaeologists have discovered a Bronze Age temple complex and a 2,500-year-old grave of a wealthy woman.
