Seoul - Gyeongju by KTX Train

Culture Station Seoul 284 - This morning, we will head to Seoul KTX rail Station. The KTX train operates at a maximum speed of 350 km/h (217 mph), with a targeted top speed of 370 km/h (230 mph).

Gyeongju Historic Area - Explore the ancient city of Gyeongju, the 1,000-year-old capital of the Shilla Dynasty. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000, the area includes ruins of temples and palaces, outdoor pagodas, statues, and other cultural artifacts from the Silla Kingdom. It’s known as one of the largest outdoor museums in the world.

Bulguksa Temple - Bulguksa Temple, a UNESCO World Cultural Asset since 1995, is a renowned relic of Gyeongju. Built in 528 during the Silla Kingdom, it was originally called ‘Hwaeom Bulguksa Temple’ or ‘Beopryusa Temple’. Rebuilt by Kim Dae-Seong between 751 and 774, it has undergone numerous renovations over the centuries. Despite being burned down during the Imjin War, it was reconstructed starting in 1604 and renovated multiple times until 1805. The temple houses many important cultural relics, including several National Treasures.

Seokguram - Located on Tohamsan Mountain, Seokguram is Korea’s representative stone temple and a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site since 1995. Built by Kim Dae-Seong between 751 and 774, it features a round-shaped main hall with the Bonjon Statue, Bodhisattva, and his disciples. The sunrise view from here is stunning.

Daereungwon Tomb Complex - Home to Cheonmachong Tomb, excavated in 1973, this complex features a typical upper-class tomb of the Silla period. The tomb mound is 12.7 m high and 50 m in diameter, containing a wooden chamber with a wooden coffin at its center. Over 11,000 artifacts were discovered here, including Korea’s first artwork excavated from an ancient tomb.

Cheomseongdae Observatory - The oldest existing astronomical observatory in Asia, built during the reign of Queen Seon-deok (r. 632-647). Designated as National Treasure No.31, it was used to observe stars to forecast the weather. The structure is 9.17m high and built with 362 stones, representing the 362 days in a lunar year.

Gyeongju - Busan ✈- Jejudo Island

Jagalchi Market - Located on the shoreside road in Busan’s Jung-gu, this is Korea’s largest seafood market. Known for its female vendors called Jagalchi Ajumma, the market offers fresh raw fish and hosts the Jagalchi Cultural Tourism Festival every October.

Yongduam Rock - Formed by strong winds and waves, Yongduam Rock has various legends about its origin. Visitors can see Haeneo women divers and enjoy nearby cafes, bars, and restaurants. The coastal road between Aewol-eup and Yongduam is popular for its scenic views and seafood restaurants.

Jejudo Island

Sangumburi Crater - A Natural Monument, this crater is over 2 km in circumference and features diverse plant life. It attracts researchers due to the variety of trees and plants growing in a limited space.

Ilchul Land - Built to develop tourism in eastern Jeju Island, Ilchulland features Micheon Cave, known for its clean air, water, and underground mystery. The cave is a spiritual place for meditation and offers a unique natural experience.

Seongsan Ilchulbong - This peak rose from a volcanic eruption over 100,000 years ago. The crater at the top is 600m in diameter and 90m high, surrounded by 99 sharp rocks. The sunrise view and spring canola flowers make it a must-visit spot.

Haenyeo Museum - Dedicated to the female divers of Jeju-do, the museum showcases their unique culture and activities. It features various exhibition halls displaying traditional homes, diving gear, and fishing equipment.

Jeju Folklore & Natural Museum - Exhibiting folklore remains and natural historical materials of Jeju-do, the museum has four exhibition halls and an outdoor exhibition. It provides a comprehensive understanding of Jeju’s unique nature and culture.

Mysterious Road (Dokkaebi Road) - Known for its optical illusion, objects on this road appear to roll uphill. This phenomenon is due to the surrounding landscape creating an illusion of an uphill slope.

Jejudo Island ✈- Seoul - Gangchon Rail Bike - Mt. Seoraksan

Gangchon Rail Park - Built on the discontinued Gyeongchun Line, this park allows visitors to pedal along old railroad tracks while enjoying the scenic Bukhangang River.

Sokcho - Seoul

Gwongeumseong Fortress - Located on Seoraksan Mountain, this fortress is believed to have been built by King Gojong of the Goryeo Period. The site is accessible by a steep path or a cable car.

Sinheungsa Temple - A short walk from Sogongwon, this temple was originally called Hyangseongsa and was built by Jajangyulsa. It features a great bronze statue and several important cultural properties.

Namdaemun Market - The Trickeye Museum here combines art with AR technology, allowing visitors to interact with paintings. The Ice Museum, located inside, features objects made entirely of ice. The museum is open year-round from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Seoul

Gyeongbokgung Palace - Built in 1395, this palace is the largest of the five palaces in Seoul. Despite being destroyed by fire during the Imjin War, it was later restored. The palace houses the National Palace Museum of Korea and the National Folk Museum.

Deoksugung Doldam-gil - The reenactment of the royal guards’ ceremony at Gwanghwamun Gate takes place daily except Tuesday. The guards’ uniforms and strict procedures attract many visitors.

Bukchon Hanok Village - Home to hundreds of traditional houses from the Joseon Dynasty, this village offers cultural centers, guesthouses, restaurants, and tea houses, providing a glimpse into traditional Korean culture.

Museum Kimchikan - Learn how to make traditional napa cabbage kimchi with easy-to-follow instructions and step-by-step photos.

Seoul - Demilitarized Zone

DMZ - Visit the DMZ, the infamous border established in 1953. The tour includes passport security control, a visit to Dora observatory and Dorasan railway station, and a tour of the 3rd tunnel.

Insadong - Located in the heart of the city, Insa-dong is known for its galleries, traditional restaurants, teahouses, and cafes. The area becomes a cultural space on weekends with traditional performances and exhibits.

Jeongdong Theater - Established in 1995, this theater is a government-affiliated organization representing Korean traditional performing arts.
