- Fossen Bratte - Just a 5-minute drive from our first waterfall, we arrive at Fossen Bratte, one of the most striking waterfalls on the route, often referred to as “The Bride’s Veil” due to its graceful white spray. It is renowned for its impressive 80-meter drop and the powerful roar that resonates through the valley.
Today, the road passes through a tunnel behind the waterfall, but after parking, visitors can follow the old road to reach the top of the fall. Alternatively, one can choose to descend to the base of this mighty cascade, where the strength of the water can be truly felt.

Today, the drive takes us through a tunnel behind the waterfall, but once parked, the old road can be used to reach the top of the waterfall. Alternatively, one can choose to descend to the base of this mighty waterfall.
- Salthammeren Stone Age Carvings - A stop at Salthammeren reveals a unique cultural heritage site featuring rock carvings from the Stone Age.
A short path leads to the rock surface where these ancient figures were etched into the mountainside, including animal motifs and symbols that provide insight into the life and beliefs of the people who lived here thousands of years ago.
From the viewpoint next to the carvings, there is also a fantastic overview of the Hardangerfjord and the majestic mountains surrounding it. The blend of history, culture, and nature makes this a truly unforgettable stop on the tour.
- Norheimsund - With the fjord stretching out before and majestic mountains rising behind, Norheimsund is often referred to as “the capital” of the Hardanger region.
The scenic waterfront promenade invites a peaceful stroll while enjoying stunning views of the Hardangerfjord.
Norheimsund is also known for its fruit farms, and during apple season, fresh apples can be tasted straight from the tree. Here, one truly gets a taste of Hardanger – in every sense of the word.
- Spildegarden - A visit to Spildegarden, a traditional apple farm, offers a taste of what many call “the world’s best apple pie.”
The pie is made from homegrown apples from Spildegarden’s own orchards, and the friendly hosts share insights into life and work on a Hardanger fruit farm. Time is taken to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and authentic charm before continuing the journey after about one hour.
