This hike offers a unique experience, distinct from typical tourist activities, as participants will be guided by a local biologist who will help identify the region’s diverse flora and fauna. The journey leads to the canyon of El Silencio and the spring El Ojo de Agua. These trails are situated on private land with restricted access within the protected area known as the Reserva Especial de la Biosfera Cajón del Diablo. The microclimate in these areas is more humid and cooler than the surrounding desert, creating an oasis rich with native fan palms and lush vegetation. This habitat resembles the tropical deciduous forests found further south, where many tropical species reach their northernmost range.
