- Presidio of San Francisco - Commencing at the Lodge at the Presidio, this 2-mile journey through the Main Post in the Presidio will lead participants through historic neighborhoods, past San Francisco’s oldest areas, and into the National Cemetery. Along the route, stories will be shared about the individuals who have lived and worked here over the Presidio’s 240+ year history. Participants will hear tales of star-crossed lovers, a house fire impacting a renowned general and his family, as well as stories of heroes and a spy interred in the National Cemetery.
An overview of San Francisco’s history and the Presidio’s contribution to its development will be provided. From its beginnings as the home of the Ohlone native people, to a Spanish, then Mexican military outpost, transitioning to a U.S. Army base, and finally a national park site, the Presidio is now a park for everyone!
The walk convenes at the Lodge at the Presidio. Looking forward to seeing you there!
