Great museum - SFMOMA is a great museum and a must-visit for modern art lovers. The temporary exhibitions are always impressive and well-curated. You can easily spend anywhere from two hours to a full day exploring the galleries. The ticket price is $30, which feels reasonable for the experience. I loved it!

Great Photographic Exhibit! - Whenever we visit San Francisco we look forward to checking out the newest exhibitions as well as their permanent ones since it’s always such a joyous and intellectually stimulating experience. There is a fascinating photography exhibition: Around Group f.64: Legacies and Counterhistories in Bay Area Photography. The premise is that a few ( now) world renowned photographers met in 1932 and decided to focus their efgorts at mimicking painers by creating photographs that looked like great art. The exhibition ends in June. Check it out!

If you love modern art, do not miss this museum. - Best modern art museum I've ever visited. Several floors, lots of interactive stuff, amazing Yayoi Kusama installation. Bonus: kids under 18 are free!

Excellent museum - even if you don’t like modern art! - I’m not a huge fan of modern art but I thoroughly enjoyed the SF MOMA! There are lots of interesting pieces and exhibits - many of which challenge perspectives and invoke marvel at the creativity of the artists - I had a great time - very impressive! The museum is several stories and each level has numerous exhibits of varying art mediums from paintings and drawings to sculptures and photographs and everything in between. Some of the exhibits are interactive- such as their famous “pumpkin” piece or the popular, colorful retro-bridge you can walk through and look down on the lobby three stories beneath your feet! From the lobby floor you can also look up and see the people walking across - I loved it! Be sure not to miss out on the art displays in their numerous gardens too - there are some truly unique pieces there. One of them even had several uncanny head sculptures that made you feel like you are walking through a Tim Burton movie lol. The layout of the exhibits and pieces is very thoughtful and well done - creating a nice flow as you move from space to space and leaving enough room for the crowds to move through easily. There are ample opportunities to sit on benches and contemplate the art laid out before you. Staff were friendly and helpful. They have a cafe with indoor and patio seating on site. Tickets are $30 for adults at the time of this writing which is a little pricey but there’s so much to see and it’s so well curated - I’d say the price is justified. Some of the hotels nearby offer their guests free tickets - I stayed at the W by Marriott right next door and they gave me two free tickets so that was a huge score! Parking in the area is all paid - either street or public garages, is expensive and a huge headache so I recommend avoiding it if at all possible. The surrounding area is a tad sketchy as well and I personally wouldn’t want to park on the street. Just be vigilant and careful where you park. Definitely a great museum stop if you’re exploring the city - and especially if you’re a fan of modern art.

Good Museum for abstract lovers - Good museum for lovers of abstract expressionism and abstract art. The post WWII Germany exhibit was also interesting. I added on the Ruth Asawa exhibit and found it interesting and worth the additional charge. You can spend hours there. The 5th floor cafe was good. Get there before noon to avoid a line. The only part I found lacking was the gift shop that had more general and few museum specific items.

Interesting Art - My wife and I decided to go to this museum for the Amy Sherald exhibit. She is an amazing artist and her technique is very forward thinking in my view. Enjoyed all her paintings on display. The museum is quite large and has 6 floors encompassing many different artists and themes. I must admit I did not care for some but most I enjoyed. Had lunch at the restaurant on level one and it was good. Spent over 4 hours in total.

San Francisco's art - Lots of cool paintings and artists, including Frida Kalo. You should bring kids if they have a good attention span otherwise it can get boring for them. It was very unique. If you love art this is for you.

Boring. You better look at modern art before you go here or you’re going to be really disappointed. - Well, first of all, I thought the museum of modern arts was going to be something super awesome like the Smithsonian, but the first two top floors are just a bunch of squares are rectangles. I was so disappointed. I was really looking forward to bringing back some cool pictures for my students. But I still will never understand why a square is interesting or a rectangle standing up on its side. I don’t care who the artist was it still boring. So if you’re looking for something interesting I would stay on the bottom two floors. I think it was the bottom two floors where we got to see a Diego Rivera and a Frida and some other really really cool stuff. Overall I would not go back again and there is no way I would pay them $30 again. If you’ve never seen modern art before, just know that you’re looking at a lot of squares and rectangles. I was really disappointed. The only reason we stayed was because we paid the $30.

Do not go to this art gallery! - Worst art gallery ever. Half the paintings are just some person scribbling with no meaning. Waste of money and time. Do better
