Best experience on Treasure Island! - The location is a beautiful art deco building that has been converted into a the parking lot hosts a stunning view of San Francisco. Nick our bartender and class teacher was amazing! The entire experience was a lot of fun, thanks to Nick. We made (3) full cocktails: whisky sour, paper plane and an old fashioned. Nick gave the right amount of information so we could be more confident in making beautiful and tasty cocktails. He gave us all the tools to understand how to use the various bar ware items. This was a great experience and I highly recommend. My tip is to appoint a designated driver as the drinks pack a punch!

Great! See my detailed reviews in Google and Yelp. - Gentlemen, Your URL would not work for me. Perhaps you should use a Tiny URL or Bit.ly to shorten it and make it live in your email. You can see my reviews as I post them in both Yelp where I am an Elite All Star reviewer or in Google where I am a Local Guide. Best, Dr. Dave Menshew

Great Adult Family Outing - Our bar tender/teacher, Johnny, was perfect. He was personable, a great story teller, and kept the timing of the event moving but not rushed. The drinks were fantastic and there was no sales pressure to buy anything (we did anyway :)). It was a great family event!

Interesting experience - To start, the parking lot was closed for our 3:45pm tasting so we had to park in Marina parking (which comes with the risk of being towed). The building itself is not heavily used and it is reminiscent of an empty museum. That said, the distillery was a quaint bar area on one end of the building. There were only 2 groups signed up for this Mixology class, but my wife and I were the only group to show up. Our host was stuck in bridge traffic so he was a few minutes late, but it ended up being a pretty good experience as it turned into a private class. Johnny was very knowledgeable and had a great personality. We experimented with a few tweaks to the Whiskey Sour that really elevated the beverage. The Old Fashioned was pretty standard, but the Paper Airplane was a very interesting drink to make. They provided a plate of empanadas to snack on while we were making drinks and it was interesting to hear the various theories on Treasure Island.

Informative, Fun and Well Tasting! - My wife and I were on a cruise from our home town San Diego to San Francisco. Rather than taking one of the overpriced day excursions in SF, which often require you to get up exceedingly early (why? a cruise should be a vacation!), we enjoyed a lazy morning on the ship with breakfast on room service (see what I mean - vacation!). In the afternoon we took a rideshare from Pier 27, where we were docked, to the Gold Bar Distillery on Treasure Island, only 20+ minutes. We were received by our host and mixologist Johnny. Another couple also joined in. We learned about the various bar tender utensils and types of glasses to use for different drinks. But first, a taste of the Gold Bar Whiskey Original, neat, and that sort of set the tone for the next hour or so! We first created a Whiskey Sour, which is more involved than you might think. We then tasted the Black Double Cask Bourbon, neat, followed by a spirited (pun intended) creation of an Old Fashioned. The mode was now "jovial" to say the least. We finally created a drink I had never heard of before, Paper Plane, using the Rickhouse Cask Strength Bourbon, which we of course first tasted neat. A very well balanced and delicious drink! When we thought we were done we we even got to taste some of their Gins, which is their latest addition. We had a great time, laughed a lot, and Johnny is great at explaining things (he even showed off his Spanish language skills). Highly recommended, ideal for couples, and a very good value for money!
