San Antonio - Known locally as “Osh Multun Kakab,” San Antonio Village is home to 3,500 residents, most of whom have Mayan ancestry. The community engages in subsistence farming, cultivating crops such as peanuts, corn, squash, and beans, similar to their ancestors. These products are sold at the San Ignacio market or to local eateries. A group of nine Mayan women established the San Antonio Women’s Co-op to empower women and youth by preserving cultural traditions and arts. The cooperative provides a means for income, skill development, and sharing traditional knowledge with both the younger generation and visitors interested in the Mayan culture. This tour offers a genuine cultural experience, featuring women in traditional, colorful attire and demonstrating corn grinding with ancient Mayan tools, staying true to their heritage.

AJAW Chocolate LTD. - Situated in San Ignacio Town, Ajaw Chocolate transports visitors to the era of the ancient Maya when chocolate was a luxury for the elite. Today, chocolate is often associated with bars or shaped pieces, but its origins lie in the seeds of a colorful, ellipse-shaped fruit (Cacao) that needed to be fermented, ground, and made into a paste for tea. Visitors can witness the creation of authentic Mayan chocolate using a traditional stone, observing the grinding of seeds into a paste and savoring the rich chocolate drink with spices, just as the ancient Maya elite did.
