Fun day at Tikal - We had a fun and educational day at the Tikal Mayan ruins. We were picked up by Julio at our hotel and he took us to customs/immigration at the Guatemala border where we met Rudy who was our driver on the Guatemala side. On the way, we picked up Louis who was our guide for the day. Louis did an awesome job of educating us and telling us about the ruins. On the way home, we stopped at a restaurant with wonderful authentic Belizean food. Rudy then took us back to the Guatemala/Belize border and dropped is off and then Julio picked us up. About 10 minutes after we left the border, I realized I left my phone in Rudy’s van. Julio then made some phone calls to his office who then called Rudy. We could not wait because we had other passengers in the van, so we continued back to San Ignacio. This is where Rudy and Julio went way above and beyond. Rudy found my phone and took it back to customs where they held on to it. Julio then drove back to the border, retrieved my, phone and brought it to our hotel! Rudy and Julio were not obligated to do anything, but took extra time and effort to help me out. I would have been lost in a foreign country without my phone but because of their kindness I got my phone back within 2 hours of leaving it in Guatemala! Huge thanks to both of them!

Very informative,... - Very informative, impressive ruins, good food. I think my only complaint is timing. We were waiting for our 6:45am pick up but they were late. Then the next group was told 7:30 and we were 15 min early so they weren’t ready until 7:30. Then we got very little time (20 min only) at the main plaza because we spent way too much time at the lesser areas. Then lunch was not served until about 3:30pm. By the time we got home, it was close to a 12 hour day. If I had known that I would have brought some food as I did not expect to eat nothing from 6:30am-3:30pm.

Tikal tour of a lifetime! - Amazing! We learned an immense amount about all aspects of Tikal including archeology, history, natural history, philosophy. Our guide, Luis, was an endless source of information. I had no need for Google on that day! Truly, Luis was a superior guide. He grew up in the area, is of Mayan descent, and was simply a unique and beautiful human being! Our group of 5, plus guide, felt close.by the end of the day, and we exchanged contact info. We all enjoyed seeing spider monkeys, toucans, parrots, crocodiles, etc., as well as learning about the amazing Maya culture. The lunch was exceptional, with dietary options for vegetarians, gluten free, etc. Homemade, hot tortillas, along with refreshing fruit beverages, served in an airy, lovely dining room. Even our drivers were a delight! Paco, Rosario, and others whose names I've unfortunately forgotten, were professional and personable. Wonderful day that we won't soon forget!

A great day trip to Tikal (just make sure you bring some breakfast!) - This is a really good tour if you are Belize based, but want to visit Tikal and don’t want to deal with the hassle of navigating border crossings in your own vehicle. I would caution though that we were picked up at 7am and didn’t sit down for lunch until about 3pm. They stopped to allow us to pick up some snacks, but we weren’t advised that lunch would be so late. The tour could be improved if they made a breakfast stop off en route. That being said, our tour guide for Tikal, Francisco, was fabulous - he had so much knowledge and insight - and was also a real character!
