• WQXP+GP San José Manialtepec - The village of “Las Negras” is located on the banks of the Manialtepec lagoon, just 20 minutes from Puerto Escondido. There, you will be shown a large map displaying your kayak tour options based on your skills and physical condition.

To start the tour at the Manialtepec River estuary, you will navigate about 6 kilometers by boat. Following your guide, you will enter a channel surrounded by dense vegetation that leads to the “Carnero,” a place where migratory birds nest. Here, you can observe wood storks, roseate spoonbills, cormorants, white ibises, crested caracaras, frigate birds, earwigs, plovers, and a variety of herons.

As you cross the fresh waters of the Manialtepec River, which fill the lagoon, you can enjoy a well-deserved rest on the beach of Puerto Soil. The return trip can be done partly in kayaks and partly in the boat, according to your preference.
