Definitely recommend Barrio Bird Walking Tours - Stacey was an excellent guide. As we were the only two people on the tour she tailored our walk to what we wanted to see which was a mixture of art and historic buildings. She also showed us a couple of shops selling locally made crafts. The tour was exactly what we wanted, and we would never have found many of the buildings we saw let alone realised you could do inside them. Stacy was also a mine of information and we learned things that we would never have found in a guidebook. I would definitely recommend Barrio Bird Walking Tours, particularly if you only have a short amount of time in San Jose

An excellent tour - Our guide, named Manuela, was well informed and interesting. She provided us with an extensive history of the country and information about the social and political aspects of society. She was able to answer all the questions we asked and her English was excellent. She showed us the various street art that was available to see as well as the museum of contemporary art. In short, we very much appreciated both the tour and our guide, who I would rate as exceptional!

Eat, Drink, and Be Merry! - This was an incredible experience, well crafted from beginning to end. Angel and Oscar were a lot of fun and offered a lot of information. Both the drinks and the food was so delicious, as well. There isn’t much time in Central Market, so allow another time in San José for that adventure. We highly recommend this excursion!

Best way to Discover SJ - What an incredible experience! I ended up having a private tour and my guide Silvia was remarkable. Not only is she a great guide, but also our lives are on similar paths so we got along great. Got to discover neighborhoods and architecture outside the central avenue and will likely return to on my next visit.

Great Art tour with Christopher - We loved our walking art tour with Christopher. He was so friendly and engaging, and customized what we wanted to see. He shared lots of information about architecture and took us to historic houses and galleries we would not have found on our own. Also, before this tour, we had not really seen any artisanal goods (more standard souvenir stuff like Tshirts) and he took us to 2 shops connected to galleries and museums with lovely handmade local goods. We highly recommend Barrio Bird and Christopher!

Fascinating and fun! - This was an awesome tour! We got lucky that the others in the group didn’t show up - so it was just our friendly and fun guide Christopher showing my wife and I around the city. He taught and showed us so much about the history, politics, culture, and architecture of San Jose, and even gave us some customized tips of what to do/where to go after we went our separate ways. I appreciated that the tour was more of a conversation than simply a lecture of generic facts. Absolutely cannot recommend enough!

A Creative Look at The City - We thoroughly enjoyed our experience with Angie who took us through the creative, fun and arsy side of some of the streets of San Jose. She was very knowledgable and informative, and gave us invaluable insights into the history, culture and artistic side of San Jose. Much of the street art and graffiti have underlying socio-political meanings, and Angie was able to explain and help us understand the context behind the art. As we walked through neighbourhoods, we learnt about how these neighbourhoods were developed and why they were important to the culture and development of San Jose. We also had the opportunity to see different types of architectural influences ranging from Moorish to Victorian.
Unfortunately because we visited during the holiday period, many of the galleries were closed, but Angie did a great job of explaining what type of Art each one showcased and encouraging us to visit them later on during our stay when they were open again.
This felt like a relaxing stroll through a creatively decorated neighbourhood with friends. Two hours well spent. If you like street art and hearing the stories behind the art and the artists, all infused with an insight into s bit of the culture and history of the city and the country - this is the tour for you!

Gem of a tour - I would never had known gems such as these buildings existed in the hustle and bustle of San José if I had not done this great tour
