A wonderful family cultural experience in a picture perfect setting - Top notch cultural experience with knowledgeable and experienced instructors of Bomba dance and drumming. Seamlessly switched between English and Spanish, skill levels, and ages (5+). The beach front location was hard packed sand in a grove of palm trees, making it easy to dance in shoes or barefeet. Setup included several lights (as it grew dark), a speaker, a professional photographer and the loan of a skirt. We felt so welcome and thoroughly enjoyed learning the types of Bomba and dancing amongst friends and family.

So much fun!! - What an uplifting experience!! Loved the breathtaking beach setting. The instructor, Charlotte, is truly inspiring and passionate. Great music and electrifying energy too!! NOTE: The meeting place is not at the statue. It’s across the street from the statue and to the right on the beach.

BOMBA by the ocean! - I had no idea what I was getting into but I am so glad we gave it a try it was magnificent. Now with that being said there were a few hiccups. Our class was supposed to start at 5:30pm and they told us to arrive at like 5pm and they said where to meet so we can all walk to the destination together. Well 5:30pm rolled around, then 5:45pm so my mom and myself took it upon ourself to walk to an area where we thought we saw people (while the others stayed at the meeting spot) and good thing we did. We were then told after we walked ourself over- that class would start at 6pm nobody had said this before. But once that was taken care of the class was beautiful. We were given our skirts and prepared to BOMBA! The musician Jose played beautifully. The perfect sounds of the island and its heritage, Bomba! And the lovely Charlotte taught the class and she dances beautifully. She gave simple and easy steps that helped us learn very well. And finally were put together for a full dance routine. You do dance a lot and fast! So be ready to move and groove by the beautiful ocean! Right on the sand. I recommend wearing no shoes that’s my personal preference as I wanted to feel the beautiful sand. They do have spotlights for when it gets dark you can still see the beautiful ocean and hear the waves. I enjoyed every minute of it. I can’t explain how beautiful the class was you just have to take it. Another hiccup. We were told if we wanted our videos (ah yes- you can do a solo dance and it will be recorded for free just message them for it). I messaged them and it was a hassle to get the videos. A lot of my messages were opened and never replied too. Maybe because they’re so in demand they had tons of videos to send out. But once we got the videos we loved them. Just a few hiccups which is why I bumped it down 1 star but the class was well put together. I would take it again.

Class was cancelled without our knowledge - Absolutely horrible! We stood at the meeting point 10 minutes before class along with another group who paid for the class. After waiting another 10 minutes, I called the number to reach the instructor and no one answered. I decided to walk to the end of the beach where we saw a dance class. I asked the instructor if she was teaching the Bomba class. She said she cancelled the class. The class was never canceled. We didn’t receive any notification. I told her this. She didn’t look surprised and I don’t believe she even offered a sincere apology for wasting our time. She was teaching a salsa class. She told me that if I waited until the salsa class was over, she’d give me a refund. WTH??? This was so unprofessional and lacked true customer service. This is my very first time booking an event on this site. I won’t do it again. I contacted customer support and they said they had to wait for the instructor to reply to initiate a refund. Well, she’s in the middle of teaching a different class at the same time our class was supposed to be. My family and I were extremely disappointed as we cut other activities short to make sure to be on time for the class. We also could’ve booked a different activity if we knew that the class was canceled. Never again!!!
