7 Lakes Route and Visit to Villa la Angostura

Route of the Seven Lakes - In the morning, the journey begins along the Route of the 7 Lakes, nestled within the Andean Patagonian forest. Renowned globally for its unmatched beauty, this four-hour trip (including stops) offers numerous opportunities to pause and admire the diverse panoramas and unique views of each lake.

Villa La Angostura - The journey culminates at Villa La Angostura. Situated in the northwest of Lake Nahuel Huapi, this city boasts one of Argentina’s most charming mountain landscapes. It is located within the Nahuel Huapi National Park, surrounded by lakes and framed by Patagonia’s main protected areas. The forests, interwoven with rivers, waterfalls, and mountains, change colors with the seasons, continually renewing their beauty.

Nahuel Huapi Lake - Visitors will explore the lake port, Quintupuray, the Messidor, the city center, and its surroundings. There will be free time to explore the city independently before returning to San Martín de los Andes in the afternoon.

Lago Escondido - This is one of the seven lakes featured on this trip, nestled within the breathtaking landscapes of Patagonia, Argentina. Lago Escondido, or Hidden Lake, offers tranquil surroundings, clear waters, and is encircled by mountains and forests.

Lago Correntoso - Continuing the journey along the Route of the Seven Lakes, travelers will encounter Lago Correntoso, a highlight of the route. Known for its plentiful trout, Lago Correntoso is a favorite destination for fishing enthusiasts.

Lago Espejo Grande - As the journey progresses towards Villa la Angostura, travelers will come across Lago Espejo Grande, aptly named for its mirror-like crystal-clear waters. This scenic lake provides a peaceful retreat amidst lush forests and snow-capped peaks.

Route of the Seven Lakes - Celebrated worldwide for its unparalleled beauty, the Route of the 7 Lakes includes the lakes of Machónico, Falkner, Villarino, Escondido, Correntoso, Espejo, and Nahuel Huapi.

Huechulafquen Lake and Lanin Volcano

Junin de los Andes - Departing at 09:00 am from the hotel in San Martin de los Andes, the journey covers approximately 42 km to the destination. A stop in the town of Junin de los Andes allows for a city tour, including a visit to the Church-monument to Laura Vicuña y Nuestra Sra. De las Nieves, significant for its connection to the Mapuche culture, which has earned Vatican recognition.

Lagos Huechulafquen - Leaving Junín, travelers will soon have their first view of Lake Huechulafquen with the majestic Lanin Volcano in the background. A walk along the beaches leads to the source of the River Chimehuín, internationally renowned for trout fishing.

Lanin National Park - The journey continues by vehicle to the entrance of Lanin National Park. As the park is explored, ancient Araucaria forests come into view, leading to the quinchos hosted by the Cañicul Mapuche community. Here, guests can enjoy some of the finest grilled meats and a variety of salads (lunch not included and optional).

Lago Paimun - The journey proceeds to Lake Paimún, where visitors can explore another chapel, notable for its location and the symbolism of various cultures found within. The return to the hotel in San Martin de los Andes is scheduled for approximately 07 pm.
