- Museo de San Miguel de Allende - Historical Museum of the city (Allende’s house): This is one of the city’s most iconic attractions, as it is the birthplace and residence of the esteemed Generalissimo Don Ignacio de Allende y Unzaga. Today, it serves as a fascinating Historical Museum, where visitors can explore spaces that recreate the family’s home. The museum also delves into the theme of Independence, with rooms featuring data, images, and artifacts related to this significant period.
- Parroquia de San Miguel Arcangel - Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel: This is the city’s emblem, renowned for its striking neo-Gothic façade. Beyond its history, visitors can admire its interior, which houses paintings, architecture, sculptures, and more. It is also notable for being the baptism site of some insurgents.
- Templo de la Purisma Concepcion - Temple of the Immaculate Conception: This beautiful 18th-century structure features a tower, dome, and altar from the 19th century. On September 2, 1823, the urn containing the skulls of insurgent leaders Hidalgo, Allende, Aldana, and Jiménez was received here. Inside, visitors can admire a valuable collection of 18th-century paintings depicting the life of the Virgin Mary by the renowned painter Juan Rodriguez Juárez.
- Bellas Artes - Former Convent of Conceptionists: Built in the 18th century and funded by María Josefa Lina de la Canal, founder of the Conceptionist religious order in the city, it is now the Ignacio Ramírez “El Nigromante” Cultural Center. Inside, visitors can admire murals by painters Pedro Martínez and Eleanor Cohen, as well as a mural by David Alfaro Siqueiros, one of the great muralists of the 20th century, titled “Life and Work of Generalissimo Ignacio Allende.”
- House of the Counts of la Canal - Also known as the Palacio del Mayorazgo de la Canal, this is undoubtedly the city’s most magnificent house, celebrated for its grandeur and exquisite taste. Its neoclassical style, rich façade, and delicate patio exemplify the highest artistic value in the architectural heritage of the Viceroyalty.
- El Jardin - On the north side of the main garden is the Old Municipal Palace, an 18th-century construction known as the Town Hall. In the council hall, on September 17, 1810, the first City Council of Independent Mexico was established, presided over by Mr. Ignacio Aldama.
- Plaza de la Soledad - Plaza Cívica Generalissimo Don Ignacio Allende: Formerly known as Plaza de la Soledad, it was the center of the Villa de San Miguel el Grande during the 16th and 17th centuries. The esplanade features an equestrian statue dedicated to Generalissimo Ignacio Allende y Unzaga, dating from 1988, crafted in bronze by sculptor Ernesto Tamariz Galicia. The square is home to an architectural ensemble of 18th-century civil and religious buildings, worthy of admiration.
