Valle Arcoiris - The journey begins between 08:00 and 08:30 hours, heading west from San Pedro de Atacama to explore the Domeyko Mountain Range, a stunning formation running parallel to the Andes. The first stop is the Yerbas Buenas sector, renowned for its significant rock art, featuring one of the region’s most important petroglyph collections. This tour offers a glimpse into the era of indigenous caravans, enriching the experience with historical and cultural insights.
Next, as we traverse Matancilla, an area abundant in flora and fauna, we will arrive at the Rainbow Valley. This valley is named for the diverse hues visible in the surrounding hills: earth tones, reds, browns, greens, whites, and yellows. These colors, combined with white salts and the blue sky, create a truly unique setting. We will then visit a viewpoint to admire the Rainbow Canyon, where the desert landscapes offer a blend of cultural and geographical history.
Valle De La Luna - Vallecito.
Guests will be picked up from their accommodations to travel to the Cordillera de la Sal, following the same route as the Hidden Lagoons tour. This Vallecito tour reveals lesser-known areas around San Pedro de Atacama, evoking the sensation of being on the Moon’s surface. Additionally, we will explore ancient waterways, remnants of which still exist. The tour includes a stop at the abandoned bus, also known as the magic bus, to enjoy the sunset and capture photographs. A drink will be served before returning to the city to conclude the activity.
Cejar Lagoon, Ojos del Salar, and Tebenquinche
Laguna Cejar - The tour explores a series of lagoons within the Salar de Atacama, Chile’s largest salt flat. The first stop is the Ojos del Salar, two deep freshwater wells in the desert, perfect for a refreshing swim. Next, we visit the Tebinquinche Lagoon, where a walk along its path offers breathtaking views of the sky merging with the desert and the salt’s whiteness.
The tour continues to the renowned Laguna Cejar and Laguna Piedra, surrounded by green and yellow grasses that accentuate the water’s color, presenting a unique landscape of turquoise waters and volcanoes. At Laguna Piedra, guests can enjoy a swim and experience the floating effect, similar to the Dead Sea. The day concludes with an aperitif while watching the sunset over these lagoons. Swimming is permitted only in Laguna Piedra and Ojos del Salar, not in Laguna Cejar or Laguna Tebinquinche.
