See ALL the wildlife you want to see it Fortuna/Arenal!!! - The safari float at Peñas Blancas River is a fantastic way to see all the wildlife on your list, on a chill float, with amazingly knowledgeable guides - particularly if your guide is Diego, with Christian at the wheel of the van! Diego was incredible from the minute he picked us up. We stopped within 5 minutes of the drive to float… why? To see a sloth in a tree someone had clued him into! He pulls out his telescope and captured some professional quality photos with our phones. Amazing. Then he spots a toucan! (2 of the list - check!) He and Christian got us in the water without getting wet. Then a nice float… every now and then he’d get excited, pull us over, and there is a group of monkeys! Or a basilisk! We watched one run across the water right in front of us! (That was not even on the list.) A couple more sloths, a cayman, an otter, countless birds… and all while telling us important history and stories of the region. We learned, we laughed, and my kids LOVED IT! (Make sure to follow his instructions on paddling… it will pay off to see the best of the float.) This isn’t the adrenaline tour, but if you wanna see some great wildlife, it’s the right choice. Wrap it up with some incredible food, juice, coffee, and great people at a local farm. Beautiful end. Safe, friendly, educational, and we saw all the things! Thanks again to Diego and Christian!

Safari Float - La Fortuna - The shuttle bus picked us up from our hotel on time. The 2 guides were friendly and informative. We saw tropical birds, monkeys, lizards and one person saw a crocodile. Back on land, we were treated to an amazing snack before being dropped off at our hotel. Would definetely recommend this tour as a safe and fun excursion.

Great guides and wildlife spotting! Relaxing and fun! - This was our favorite experience of our trip to La Fortuna! The guides were fantastic, and the river experience was unmatched. We saw so much wildlife, including birds, bats, lizards, crocodiles, and monkeys. The rafting experience isn’t challenging, as the river is calm, but do expect to help your guides paddle! You won’t get soaked head-to-toe, but you won’t be able to have extraneous stuff with you on the raft or be able to use your hands much. We each had a small backpack or fanny pack that fit under our life vests. The float was in full sun at times and is about 2 hours long. Sunscreen is essential! Thanks to our guide, Orlando, we learned about all the wildlife we spotted and were taken care of from start to finish. Small snack, coffee, water, and tea are available at the end. They also have a small cacao demonstration, which we loved. Our driver, Alonso, even stopped in the city center afterwards to drop us off near a restaurant we were planning to try. That flexibility in drop off was so appreciated, and definitely not a given, so we loved the attention to detail and support of our itinerary!

Wonderful wildlife and great guide - This was a fun and educational river float. We were shuttled from the tour office to the site where the rafts are put into the water. All gear is provided and note that you can bring your cellphone without it getting wet (your feet and butt might get wet only). The guides did a great job of controlling the rafts while also pointing out wildlife like monkeys, iguanas, birds, crocodiles (no swimming!), and more. At the end there is a little food and drink experience, and a very short presentation about chocolate (not at the level of going on a chocolate farm tour). This tour was worth the price.

We did the river tour on... - We did the river tour on our first day of vacation, and we saw all the animals in those two hours that we had hoped to see our entire trip. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and could answer everyone’s questions. He was able to point out so many animals that we would have missed on our own. If you’re looking for a relaxing float down the river to see many different animals, this is definitely the tour for you!

Excellent way to spend a morning in Costa Rica - The tour is a leisurely two hour float over on the slow jungle river on a six person raft ( you will be dry but some water will slosh at the bottom so wear flip flops or water shoes vs sneakers. In general the nature guides in Costa Rica are excellent naturalist and storytellers, and our guide Paolo was exceptional. Not a boring moment on the raft. The stars of the show in our cases were howler monkeys and tiny “blue-jean” poison arrow frogs, but of course we saw a lot of other creatures, from birds to bats. On thé practical side: only a few mosquitoes; and take the first tour in am when the animals are more active.
