Once in a lifetime experience - Wonderful experience! My twin and I booked the early 8:30am tour and were greeted at our hotel by David. The ride over was stunning and the experience as a whole was a once and a lifetime adventure. The whole process was smooth and the ride up was very smooth and stress free, even for beginners. We ate pizza wine at the top which added to the fun. 10/10 recommend!

Other worldly!!! - This ride is absolutely not to be missed. David picked us up and during the 1.5hr ride from Antigua , he shared the history of how soul shine came to be , the work they do in the community and what we can expect. As an avid lifelong equestrian, it is particularly important to me that if I do ride with a tour group, that first and foremost that they treat the animals and staff ethically. The horses were clearly cared for and were in excellent condition. I try to make it a point to ride wherever I vacation.. and honest to god this was by far the most magical , awe inspiring ride of my life. I felt completely safe in very capable hands ( and hooves ) . The weather was stellar , the views left me slack jawed . All of the guides gave SO many interesting facts about the terrain, fauna , flora , and the indigenous people . When we arrived to the top we were greeted with a delightful meal of the most delicious pizza , beverages and more photo opportunities than I can count. We met Toffey the resident dog at 8k feet who I gladly shared my pizza and smores with. David timed our descend down the mountain perfectly with the golden hour and took pictures of us with both their camera and ours. If you were on the fence about going on this tour, I hope you take this as your sign to do it. I can’t see a world in which you would regret it

Experience like no other! Very unique - All I can say wow!!! Experience of a life time!!! I have been to so many countries in Central and South America and I’ve ridden motorcycles in lots of countries and thought I experience so much until now. Truly amazing!!! Guatemala is special and this tour highlights exactly how special. No better example of the people and and natural beauty of this place than this tour. The guides are very professional and friendly. Marlo is an excellent guide and gave so much information, not just on the horse ride ,but on the drive there from Antigua. Don’t miss your chance to ride with the real cowboys of Antigua.

You won't regret this! - Our guide Marlo was amazing. The pizza and marshmallows at the top, so good! We didn't get a sunset out of it because of clouds but I would still do it. It was stunning!

Very good but not as good as others have mentioned - While we thoroughly enjoyed the tour, if you are on teh fence about the price, I don't believe the price was worth it. There are other more affordable options to take a horse up with options to buy pizza and smores from those at the top. Our guides were not very talkative at all and we only got one 5 minute spiel about the volcano. I asked about getting off to take photos at one of the view points and they insisted we stayed on the horse and walked us over for our own photo but I was hoping for something with my family. The trip and overall experience was still very good and I reminded myself that this is also for a good cause. We did opt to add the wine. We split one bottle between 4 of us for $20 each with I felt was pretty steep as well. They market it as a luxe adventure and I certainly wouldn't call it that. My kids wanted to do smores so I had to help them but had nothing stable to set drinks on etc... Yes this is being petty and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. I just want to let others know who may be on the fence about pricing. The gentleman running the lava store was super informative and we learned a lot from him.

Incredible Experience, Not quite Luxurious - Wow, what a trail ride! I was very excited to book this Pacaya Volcano tour. It seemed to promote an individual "luxury" experience, which I would argue is a bit of a stretch. Was it an incredible experience? Yes. Would I use the word luxury to describe it? No. First, you're grouped with other people on the booking, which I wasn't aware of until we started picking up more people on the bus. Luckily, the other couples were fun, and everyone got along well. The bus driver was safe, and we felt secure driving an hour or so out of Antigua to Pacaya. Our Leader Guides spoke English and were lovely to talk with. The rest of the crew that participated, from the "cowboys" who took us up the mountain to the "lava chefs," is where things were a little unexpected. The "cowboys" varied in age and mostly kept to themselves. The trail ride was simple, and the "cowboys" who accompanied us up the mountain were walking alongside us on foot while constantly engaging with their horse (that you're riding). Coming down after sunset was a highlight for me because it was pitch black on the trail, with just their iPhone lights to guide us. You could see so many stars! The "lava chefs" were part of a separate organization cooking for multiple parties at the top of the mountain. It was a pizza party for everybody! I enjoyed the smores and watching the sunset from Pacaya. Would I recommend this tour group? Yes, absolutely. Its function is unique, supporting multiple programs and families in the Guatemala community, which I love. Would I encourage you to be open-minded about its being a "luxury" experience? Yes, it's more of a unique and engaging trail ride!

Never Saw The Volcano - While, the staff, Cowboys, and the food were excellent, The total experience was totally disappointing because myself, and those on the trip with me, never saw the Pacaya Volcano. We never got even a glimpse of the volcano either from the road, the ranch or standing on the side of the volcano. The weather was cloudy and foggy, and you could see absolutely nothing. If you are planning to take this trip, check the weather before the 24 hour cancellation or you could be very disappointed. The pictures on the website depict a happy sunny day.For me, the trip was a waste of time and a lot of money.
