The rigidity of the visiting time, in the Monestir de Sant Benet.. - Monestir de Sant Benet el Bages is a medieval monastery of the 10th century, one of the best preserved in Catalonia with olographies that teach us the past of the Benedictine order that made wine. The one I see wrong is such a strict control for visitors that they leave no room to look at one thing if you want twice. Those who enter with audio guides are also subject to strict control and people cannot go to their air with the respect that the visit requires. They try to sell you the ticket whatever you also eat in their restaurant, expensive and not to everyone’s taste, even if it has 1 Michelin star granted from COVID, so that they do not close. The modernist house by the artist Casas that he used as a summer residence is also worth seeing, but it sticks to 1 hour and in a hurry. The Monastery seems to belong to the Abbey of Montserrat, because it is of the same Benedictine order and is managed by the Generalitat de Catalunya which has not learned that with audio guides people should have more time and interest in the place. And to be able to come in when he arrives and not with that rigidity that seems to have to be recorded as at work. That detracts and scares away the desire to return.

pleasantly surprised - It's a little monastery, with a lot of history. But certainly what we liked the most was how it is told. The audio guide is amazing. Told in the first person by the last abbot who had the monastery and supported by a series of videos, light games and holograms in different rooms that immerses you in history. It is certainly the best audio guide I remember in museums or monuments.

Medieval experience - The guided view of the Monastery of Sant Benet is an absolutely recommended experience. Explanations, audiovisuals and the great state of preservation of the place take you back to medieval times and the lifestyle of the moment. It is a charming place, well preserved and with a remote location but worth visiting.

An excellent visit - Beautiful monastery very well preserved, an excellent guided tour that explains the history, evolution and transformation of the precinct from its construction in the 9th century to the present day. Beautiful Romanesque church with completion in the principles of Gothic. To highlight the cloister of great beauty. Very interesting visit to make.

MEDIEVAL DISAPPOINTMENT IN SAN BENET - Saturday, November 2, we finally arrived at the Monastery lively with the possibility of a medieval visit by the monastery. At 12 o’clock, a group of visitors accompanied the guide to the interior of the premises. At the door a very brief explanation of just 5 min about the history of it. We entered the first hall, which had been the original church built in the 10th century, and subsequently rebuilt on several occasions. We sit on benches from which we can view an audiovisual that recreates the history of the monastery. So far, nice introduction. And from here... it's over, the guided tour. Sorry? Yes, as it is. The guide tells us that we can go alone to see the cloister and another video in what was the cellar of the monastery. There is so much neatness, modernity and technology that it is difficult to get an idea that : you are in a monastery, the visit is medieval, you have paid 15 euros for this. I am passionate about medieval history and without a doubt, my disappointment was absolute. At 13:30h we had signed up for a workshop of "Ointments, syrups and herbs", with the guide, who proved to be very focused on phytotherapy (plant-based therapy), we visited a corner of the monastery that appeared to be the old pharmacy. From there to a modernist room where a little white clay, a little olive oil and literally 1 drop of rosemary essential oil awaited us.Why? to make a moisturizing mask that we took home naturally. The price of this small route and said elaboration: 4 euros. If instead of 1 drop, it would have been 4 nothing would have happened either... and the mask would stop smelling of olive oil. Anyway, what can I say? Which I regret very much is the worst medieval visit I've ever had. Reenactments with mannequins, models and environmental reproductions are the order of the day. If instead of an audiovisual image reflected on the wall of the supposed kitchen, they had recreated a true medieval cuisine... frankly the visit would have been more realistic. I left disappointed and of course, I do not recommend anyone to pay this price to see nothing.
