St Francis tour - Since it’s a semi-private tour, you don’t just learn history—you absorb it. Orvieto gives you the warm-up, but Assisi? That’s the final exam. You’ll also get to know your fellow tourists extremely well. After 10–12 hours together, you’ll know their favorite snacks, random life stories, and possibly their biggest regrets. Even your tour guide and driver will get in on the jokes—because at that point, you’re basically a tiny traveling family. Our guide, Stayce, was super involved and encouraged us to ask every question that popped into our heads. And our driver Roberto—who not only looks like Jason Statham but drives like him—got us to and from each stop safely and in style. We had a great time! Oh, you'll also get a different but very knowledgeable tour guide when you get to Assisi. You can ask if you can stop in where Carlo Acutis is, maybe you'll get lucky, We did!

Pilgrimage to Assisi and Orvieto - Marie and Natalia were fantastic as tour guide and driver respectively. Maria gave us a good histories and facts of the Umbria region. I sat up front next to Natalia and she talked a bit too about the electric vehicle we were in and how our trip will proceed. I like the fact that the electric vehicle was clean to us and to the environment - no smelly car fumes. Marie was very knowledgeable about her own church in Assisi and about the Duomo in Orvieto too. In Assisi, we appreciated the stories told by Marcos. He talked just about the right amount to give us the stories of Francis and Clare, the two major saints, and a bit about the new one of Assisi. The art work in Assisi were fine, not as intricate as the best for the Pope. Nevertheless the people of Assisi and Orvieto are rightfully proud of their fine places of worship. My family really enjoyed the histories and the sights, so intertwined with the histories.

A peaceful and informative tour! - This was a wonderful day trip and such a relaxing change from the hustle and bustle of Rome. Our guide, Marie, was professional, prompt and very accommodating when we wanted to amend our trip to spend the remainder of our day in Assisi. This was due in part to the riveting two-hour tour that our local guide, Chiara, provided. The knowledge and passion she shared pertaining to St. Francis and St. Clara were infectious!! As a result, we only wanted to spend more time in the basilica and the charming walled portion of the city of Assisi. I highly recommend this tour if you are interested in learning about St. Francis and the beautiful Basilica di San Francesco!

The best way to visit Assisi and Orvieto - Our private tour day-trip to Assisi and Orvieto in late October, 2023 was perfect! My husband and I were picked up on time, in the early morning, at our hotel in Rome. Our driver, Giuseppe, was accompanied by our tour assistant, also name Giuseppe. Both men could not have been more friendly and considerate. We had an easy drive, first to Orvieto, and then to Assisi, making a rest stop along the way. Giuseppe described the countryside as we drove along and answered any/all of our questions. We asked to go to St. Patrick's Well; I highly recommend it! We saw the important sights of/around Orvieto, especially the magnificent Duomo. In Assisi, after a delicious local lunch, we stopped at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels and viewed the Portiuncula inside. In the old town of Assisi, we met up with our local guide, Begonia, who was with us for 2 hours. We had an extensive description of the life of St. Francis and also of the beautiful town. We visited the chapel of St. Clare; the lower church (where St. Francis is buried), and the upper Basilica...all with time for prayer, and with extensive descriptions and interpretations from Begonia. For our comfort, our driver dropped us off the meet Begonia at the upper part of the town of Assisi, giving us a gentle walk down to the Basilica where the driver later picked us up at the bottom. This was a full-day tour, but we never felt rushed or hurried. A bonus: on the drive back to our hotel in the heart of Rome, Giuseppe played music by Andrea Bocelli and Luciano Pavarotti as we drove through the enchanting Italian countryside. What a wonderful way to visit Assisi and Orvieto - well worth the investment!

Shocking - That was a pending destination for me. It impacts what it can feel like walking its streets. The guides, Caterina and Maddalena, manage with their stories (those who put passion and professionalism), to be able to transport themselves in time and connect emotionally with the life of that city in the 12th century. Francis and his family, same Clara. Orvieto is also a beautiful city, worth touring. Unmissable.

This was outstanding. Just my wife... -
This was outstanding. Just my wife and I, along with our guide and driver. We got a great tour of the Basilica of St. Francis, viewed his crypt, walked the city and were fortunate to have a great guide in Catrina. She was very much on top of her game. Knowledgeable, personable, patient, etc., etc. Took time to explain things and found us an excellent restaurant to have a relaxing lunch. The visit to Orvieto was more of the same. If you can take this long day tour, please do so. Worth the time and investment.
