- Ponta Preta Beach - Ponta Preta, translating to “Black Point” in English, is named for its numerous black volcanic rocks. It is the most beautiful and favored beach among surfers and windsurfers who relish the impressive high waves during winter. Depending on the season, the beach’s appearance changes dramatically: in winter, the high and long waves bring black sand from the sea bottom, while in summer, the ocean is calm, and the beach is nearly entirely golden.

Embark on a 2-hour guided journey through the desert to uncover the southern region’s secret wonders. Traverse stunning beaches, deserts, and Sal’s natural reserve from behind the wheel of an automatic dune buggy. Journey across Santa Maria’s salt flats, encircled by magnificent sand dunes, kite beach, and so much more. Group excursions can accommodate a maximum of 16 individuals, with no more than two passengers per buggy.
- Minimum age for driving is 18 years
- Not recommended for children under the age of 6
- Pricing is per vehicle; a maximum of 2 people per booking for each buggy
- May be operated by a multi-lingual guide
- Valid driving license required
- Without a valid and original driving license, participants will not be able to participate on the tour. No refund will be given
- Group sizes will be no more than 16 passengers.
- Minimum numbers apply. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there is not enough passengers to meet requirements. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative or full refund
- It is recommended to wear closed toe shoes
- For safety reasons, there is a weight limit of 120 kg (265 lbs) per seat

A Must! - We did the 4hr island buggy tour and could not recommend this enough! The whole experience was very well organised and so much fun! We got to see all the beautiful scenery across the island. The guides were really knowledgeable and couldn’t do enough to make sure we had a great time. Thank you Patrick and Edson - you were ace!

Great adventure with a professional and safe company - Fantastic tour the highlight of the holiday. Great fun with all equipment provided. We booked in advance with TUI and everything was perfect. We spoke to people who had booked a buggy activity on the beach cheaper but they had none of the overalls or dust protection which we had. Also the photos they showed me had inferior buggies unlike the good machines which we had. All in all a great experience.

10/10 experience - Truly great experience! Got picked up from our hotel and dropped off at the spot. Registered at the counter and got our uniforms. The guides were very helpful and friendly. Then we drove off with our buggy after a short briefing. Saw amazing parts of the island that you don't see if you just hang at the beach all day. I'll recommend to everyone who wants a little bit of adrenaline flowing.

Recommended! - Highly recommended! The monitors are great! Sometimes it's a little boring to have to wait for the other buggy, but still, it's worth it!

Best day out on sal island - Bring a face mask or scarf so you don't have to buy one as it will be needed.this is an excellent trip so good you LL want to do it again then next day

Disappointing waste of money. - Very disappointing and really not worth the money. It was sold as a "2 hour buggy desert adventure", but we only spent 1 hour and 20 minutes driving the buggies and 20 minutes of that was on the road, so 1 hour in the "desert".
Your not allowed to overtake, or zig zag, or drift, or jump, so you're just driving in a long line, following the paths, with your speed limited by the driver in front. If, like me, you end up behind a slow driver that stamps on the brakes before any hill or drop, it gets exceptionally frustrating. You try to hang back a bit, so that you can get a decent run at the hills and drops, but the staff insist that you catch up with the vehicle in front.
The staff should watch and assess competence/confidence and re-order the group, so that the slow/unconfident drivers are at the back, but they don't.
Save your money, you can have more fun driving around your local shopping mall car park after hours!
