- Santa Marta - Paso del Mango is situated 40 minutes from Santa Marta in the foothills of Sierra Nevada National Park, at an elevation of 500 meters within the Cloud Forest Ecosystem.
We will travel in private transportation to the trailhead where the adventure begins.
- Paso del Mango - Upon reaching our first stop, the start of the waterfall trail, we’ll embark on a 3-hour hike, pausing to appreciate each waterfall. The trail is moderately challenging, but the views of the valley from the mountain’s summit are breathtaking.
Each waterfall has its unique beauty, and since this area is relatively undiscovered, we can enjoy them in solitude, making it an ideal adventure for those seeking a connection with the jungle, nature, and themselves.
- Paso del Mango - After completing the trail, we’ll enjoy a locally sourced lunch featuring fresh ingredients and a delicious chicken dish cooked in a traditional clay oven.
A vegetarian option is available upon request, and the meal includes fresh juice made from local fruits.
- Paso del Mango - Our next stop is a botanical garden showcasing fascinating plant species native to our mountain system, including exotic flowers and fruits.
We’ll explore original indigenous trails, visit a Macaw reproduction program, and observe Arapaimas (one of the world’s largest freshwater fish), alligators, and various mountain animals.
Petroglyphs carved on the rocks of a sacred waterhole, depicting the Tayrona cosmovision and culture, invite us for a refreshing dip.
- Paso del Mango - A highlight of this once-in-a-lifetime experience is our Cacao (Cocoa) Experience.
We’ll tour an organic cocoa field, learning the entire chocolate crafting process, tasting fresh cocoa fruit, and participating in the bean grinding process.
The tour concludes with a hot cup of chocolate, cocoa samples of varying percentages, and a rejuvenating chocolate facial mask.
- Santa Marta - At the end of our journey, our 4WD transportation will pick us up to return you to your accommodation.
