The street is adorned with colonial tiles and features attractions such as Fortaleza Ozama, La Real Audiencia, Don Rodrigo de Bastidas’ house (now the “Trampolín” children’s museum), colonial houses (some with colonial shields), and ends at Plaza España.
Calle Las Damas was the first street created in the Colonial Zone during Nicolás de Ovando’s governance. It stretched from the Ozama Fortress or Torre del Homenaje to the vicinity of the Alcázar, which began around 1511. During colonial times, it was called Calle de la Fortaleza due to the presence of the Ozama Fortress.

- Parque Colon - Parque Colón is one of the historical squares in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo, serving as the main social hub during the colonial era. Today, it is a center for cultural activities and part of the Santo Domingo World Heritage Site.
It was the main entertainment center for the inhabitants, bringing life and splendor to the town of La Isabela and its surroundings. Named Plaza Mayor in honor of Major Commander Nicolás de Ovando, who arrived in Santo Domingo in 1502, it was instrumental in relocating the city to the western side of the Ozama River.
A tour of this beautiful place will be conducted, where hundreds of pigeons adorn the area.
- Alcazar de Colon - The Alcázar de Colón, or Viceregal Palace of Don Diego Colón, is located in Plaza de España in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. It was built near the cliffs overlooking the Ozama River, granted to Diego Colón, the first-born son of Christopher Columbus, by King Ferdinand the Catholic, to establish a home for himself and his descendants on Hispaniola, where he arrived in 1509 as governor. Today, it houses the Alcazar de Colón Museum.
Constructed between 1511 and 1514, it follows the architectural influences of Mancera de Abajo in Salamanca, Spain, whose ruins still exist. The architect’s name remains unknown. The style is predominantly Mudejar Gothic.
A tour with audio in your language will be available, explaining the antiques step by step.
- Plaza de la Hispanidad or Spain - Situated in front of the Alcazar de Colón, this monumental square, also known as Plaza de la Hispanidad, features a statue of the city’s founder, Nicolás de Ovando, on the western side of the river. In front of the historic royal houses, a sundial dated 1753 can be seen.

- Panteon Nacional - The building was one of the last constructed by the Spanish on Dominican soil. The exact start date of its construction is uncertain, but historians estimate it was between 1714 and 1755, attributed to Jerónimo Quezada y Garçon. Initially, it served as a Jesuit church, where priests conducted mass facing the altar and the figure of Jesus Christ.
The National Pantheon has approximately 36 empty spaces reserved for future heroes, including an unmarked space for the unknown soldier. A permanent Honor Guard, composed of members of the Presidential Guard in full dress, stands motionless. One member performs a solemn walk along the central aisle, from the main entrance to the main altar.
